Sick and tired of being sick and tired

 Hey All,

I've been sick for the last couple of months. At first I thought it was the stomach flu, achier than normal, throwing up, indegestion the usual. Next I blamed it on stress my nephew was diagnosed with cancer, he is ok now and will be fine thank God, my daughter was in the middle of moving out of the house. Lots of little things. I went to my PC Dr. and knowing my hystory she jumped on it right away and ordered bloodwork and ultrascan. Except for a mildly dilateted liver and bile duct things looked fine. By now I am taking compazine every 8 hours and sleeping or sick or nasueas all day. I've been in my pj's for 3 days. Any ideas anyone? She ordered an endoscopy but I haven't gotten an appt. yet. Oh and I ruled out my meds, nothings changed to make this happen so quickly and for such a long time.

So, like I said I'm so sick and tired of being sick and tired and I guess I'm just looking to vent a bit and maybe get some feedback. Hope you all are having tolerable days and restfull nights.Thanks for listening. The oh so blue Toritoo is out.

Vomiting is very painfull to us CP sufferers, yes?

I would think the dilated bile duct might explain things. It's dilated for a reason, and that usually means that something is blocking the flow of bile from the liver. Livers don't like it when the quart-a-day worth of bile can't move through to the small intestine like it's supposed to. I don't know your history, but have you ever had gallstones or gallbladder problems? Any kind of sludge or stones in the bile duct can cause your symptoms. Sometimes they'll pass on their own, and sometimes an ERCP is necessary to clear it out of the bile duct.

With everything else on your "plate", now this! Oh my! Above posts are excellent advice, hope you get some relief. Re the nausea: I had constant throwing-up for 3 weeks (sorry guys!) when I had my spinal fluid leak after my 1st lammy surgery...it is simply the worst. You said you're on Compazine...they tried that for me but w/ a spinal leak, nothing helps except repairing it (which was surgery #2....) but I did use some ZOFRAN for post-op nausea after that & also after my lastest fusion surgery. It worked really well.

So you might want to consider that product. It used to be $$$, but is now available as a generic -- the drug generic compound is called "ondansetron hlc" and I was RX'd 8MG every 6 hrs for nausea. They also loaded it into my pre-op IV cocktail, post-op meds & thruought my stay in the hosp & after I got home, in order to better tolerate the opioids (daludid, like morphine) I needed for the pain. Zofran can make you sleepy, but that's the only side-effect I had, & it was a "welcome" one. It's also available in 4MG dose as well. I think that's what I hadin my IV, as it was almost a constant "feed" from pre-to-post op.

Oh Toritoo - I feel so sorry for you. I am dealing with nausea too; sometimes I think it is as bad as the CP. And yes, throwing up is the pits!! I have been taking ZOFRAN too with pretty good results. You might want to give it a try.

Toritoo, push for the endo, it could be stomach-related. There is def something wrong to be so sick for so long. Taking anti-nausea meds is ok, but only pallative, it doesn't help find out what's going on. Keep us posted, kiddo
