Kidney Stone? Bladder Stone?

Does anyone have a diagnosis of this? I think I have a kidney stone ... What's it feel like?

I have had the unfortunate experience of having (too many to count)kidney stones and the first one I passed in 99 (the size of a golf ball!!!) that started all the problems I now have (chronic left flank pain/spasms) due to the stone "destroying my ureter which in turn caused me to have reflux,strictures which in turn caused scaring of my kidney due to the high pressures) back to the stone...it is extremely painful (kinda like labor pains of the ureter) that is unrelenting...accompainied by nausea, vomiting, radiating of the pain into the groin along with very dark urine (like iced tea)...you would know if you were passing a stone. (I've actually gotten so used to it, i passed one at work while assisting in a minor surgical procedure here at work!!) I went to the urgent care and was found to have a 9mm stone stuck (had to have surgery to have it removed!) now, i'm preparing for a procedure to implant "deflux" to help with the reflux which causes intense pressure in my kidney...that's within the next two weeks....one more test. I could go on and on...don't worry about the cystocopy (had a million) very minor...good luck!

I had one kidney stone on the left side in the ureter. I forget the size. I had a sharp pain in my Left Lower Quadrant and wondered what the heck was causing the pain. Went to the doctor and then had a cat scan which showed the kidney stone. The pain went away after about two weeks. Don't think I passed it cause I hear to pass one is painful, but the pain went away and I'm fine now. It's been about six months since the original pain.

I have had over 100 stones and it's very painful, crawling on the floor painful.  Mine usually starts in the back right below my scapula and radiates down to the front.  I get horrible nausea and vomiting.  It's very much like labor pains in the urethra. Just the thought makes me uncomfortable.  If they are nice and small and are moving down, you might just have bad pain for a few minutes that comes and goes.  Unfortuantely mine are usually big and cause a blockage. If you are having one, they can usually see it on either an x-ray, ultra sound or a ct scan. If it's bad, you should go to the ER to make sure you are not blocked.

Melissa ... I'm going to have an ultrasound. I don't want to have a cystoscopy because my Methodone will block the pain meds they give me for that procedure. I think I did have a Kidney Stone. My urine was bloody and there was something like pieces of tissue in it. Maybe the stone broke up? I don't know. Maybe I have Cancer. I don't see a thread for Cancer of the lower regions. I have it all. I see that you all have it all also. So ... Tomorrow is another day when we put one foot in front of the other. Eh?

Hey Porteyoz,

I have quite a bit of experience with kidney stones as well.  In reading your post, something didn't make sense to me.  You said that the first stone you passed in 1999 was the size of a golfball.  Then later you said that a 9mm stone got impacted and had to be surgically removed.  I had to get a stone that size surgically removed as well.  The size difference in the two stones is like a basketball to a baseball.  Can you explain how it was humanly possible to pass a stone the size of a golfball.  I'm not saying you are exaggerating, but something just doesn't add up to me.  Can you 'splain?

I also had some kind of kidney problem. Although I don't think I passed any stones. My kidneys felt as if I had two water balloons in my back that bounced with every step or move I made. Extremely painful. I was passing blood every time I urinated. Thought I was going to bleed to death. I mean really bleeding blood clots. Went to Dr. and he asked how I knew the blood was coming from my kidneys and not a menstral cycle sp Of course I had tried a tampon. So I knew. He gave me antibiotics and it went away. I comes back occ. but not as bad and antibiotics usually help. Good Luck. june

My kidney dr is quite sure I passed a kidney stone several months back. All I can say is, I saw every color flash before my eyes, I broke out in a sweat and the pain was absolutely incredible. I yelled and moaned when I passed that thing. Susie

Passing kidney stones is no picnic, but I can tell you from personal experience, it's a world of hurt better than having one get impacted.  I had one get impacted, way too big to pass through the plumbing.  The pain sent me straight to the ER three times.  I saw a urologist, who thought I should try and wait it out (for what, I don't know).  He let me suffer for three full weeks of agony before finally surgically removing it through the plumbing.  It was way too big to be broken up ultrasonically.  I've had two really bad kidney infections during my life, both of which put me in the hospital for a week each time.  A chunk of one of my kidneys is calcified, i.e. permanently rock solid, and both are chock full of stones.  The urologist is just letting them sit there until they decide to give me a problem again.  It's a whole lot of fun knowing that I've got these ticking time bombs just waiting to go off at will.  Doctors....AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!
