It's been interesting for me to read about the really vivid dreams some of you are having, because I almost never have dreams anymore. I was wondering if I'm alone in that. ?? I hardly ever get an actual full night's sleep anymore, as the pain typically makes it difficult to get comfortable enough to sleep and once I finally do it wakes me up every couple of hours. I almost never get to the deep sleep where you dream anymore. The worst part is that on the few occasions when I have dreamed lately, my dreams have always included my pain! Like once I dreamed that I was in a car that was hit from behind and my back was broken - I woke up actually crying, and I was really in actual pain because I'd been in one position too long. The real back pain had just worked it's way into my dream. I just miss those dreams of walking through pleasant fields of pretty flowers and feeling great. Do any of the rest of you have missing dreams now that you live in pain?

I still have some dreams, but not as often as before. And mostly I find they relate to anxiety - esp. when I'm anxious over finances. Every now and then I have a peaceful one or something that feels healing, but those are few and far between. I do think our physical sensations work there way into our dreams, and sadly in many of our cases, it's our pain.

There is a technique called directed dreaming; some people believe by focusing on some aspect of a dream you're trying to figure out, or even a problem you're trying to solve, in a relaxed state before bedtime that you can somewhat direct your dreams. Can't hurt to try! But the physical effects of meds. we take on the brain may not be able to be counteracted that easily.

Yes I think my pain works its way into my dreams as well. Last night (actually just a few minutes ago) I had this real weird dream where monsters were chasing me (musta been from Ry's little sand monster) anyway I was running away and after awhile this thing finally caught up with me. He was dining on me (don't want to go into specifics too gory) and I felt the pain course through my body and was awaken at that moment to realize that I was positioned on my left hip and my toes were searing with pain. It radiated down my leg and settled into my foot causing me to wake up in pain. I cried out and hubby musta heard me cause he shook me and said "It was only a dream baby." I said "nooooo it hurts bad!" He said "go take a hot bath and the pain will go away." So I did since I was awake anyway. Been up ever since.

My dreams sometimes scare me, I have never had such vivid dreams where I actually feel like I am in them. I think I will talk to doc about this and see what he can do for me cause I hate my dreams.

I never thought i would say this but i miss dreaming even those mean nasty scarry ones i miss them. I havent been able to sleep for crap in many many years now. I cant even tell you the last time i had a dream or what it was about for that matter! You know the crazy thing i never really thought about it till i read this from you ry and had to sit there and think! I actually never thought about it WOW! Thanks Ry for posting this and well your not alone! confused

Hi Ryand ~ I dream all the time now and i never did before , I thought it was the drugs :-) making me dream, but like you I am so excited to get a few hours sleep I don't care if I dream or not , just let me be comfortable and sleep !!!
Anyway off to PT !

HI Ry, im 35 and when i was younger i did alot of dreaming. I was plagued with nightmares that eventually moved to Night Terrors (some really horrifying stuff that you mentally bring out of the dream with you, such as a stranger figure in the room choking you, as you choke yourself w/ the sheets). It has been atleast 8-10 yrs since those episodes thankfully, as even tho i was able to sleep back then, i would do anything to NOT sleep...LOL

Now, when i do fall into a deep sleep, i usually dream light things, being w/ my kids, ect...but don't dream every night like i used to....

sure wish we could spread some magic dream dust and have sweet dreams tonight!!!
