Thursday "Daily Check-In"

This should be easy for most of us... What books did you love as a child?

I still have mine...it's called Raggedy Ann and Ragfedy Andy and the Camel with the Wrinkled Knees. The other one I still have and loved was Little House on the Prairie.

I absolutely loved Nancy Drew and waited anxiously for each new book to come out! Also a series about Mary Bolton, who was a nurse. Used to hide under the covers with a flashlight reading at night after my Mother thought I was fast asleep!

My favorite book was, and I think still is, To Kill A Mockingbird.

Cinderella and raggedy ann and andy was my favorite books as a child.

I LOVE reading. I read more then I watch TV and collect books.

My favorite book was:

Winter of Fire by Sheryl Jordan

I didn't really read much as a child other then what was assigned in class but one book tends to stick out is Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Siverstein. I could read that over and over again. Another one of my faves was Black Beauty and Call of the Wild.

That's just a little touch of my favorite poem. I painted a birdhouse once. It was
quite fancy and I sent it over to a blind acution. (It was the day that Shelverstein
took flight.) I loved his words soooo much. I read them all the time to the children
that were in my preschool. I cried the day he died.
Anyway, I called THE bird house the Shel Silverstein House. I heard that my little
house made $250.00 toward paying a teacher to come into the school and teach
music and art! (I guess the $$ didn't go very far but it was a start!)

 Reading was what I did most of as a child and still do now. I would read everything and anything I could get my hands on, a tube of toothpaste in the bathroom, anything.LOL

But I loved Nancy Drew and The Hardy Brothers. All of Aesop's fables. I loved books about horses and animals and history it really would be hard to pick out a favorite but if I had too I would say it was a book I can't remember the title of (lol) but it was about a beautiful big red horse and the little girl that cared for her. Not National Velvet. I also loved Jack London's' books.

I feel stupid that I can't even remember the name of a book but I just know I loved to read and I would always have a book with me where ever I went. Great way to escape when you have 2 younger brothers and a younger sister and one older brother. opening a book always felt like slipping away to a far off place and time. It was wonderful and still can be.
