Pamela et al,
I am absolutely "blown away" by the booklet The Intractable Pain Patient's Handbook for Survival. Other than some procedural differences because I live in Canada, it talks about many of the problems I had....but it also reinforced some of the things I have had to do to try to get better. Wow!! I even had my wife read it last night. This is exactly what I needed and I am glad I have found this form.
Just a quick question..why should I avoid carrots ?
In the two years I have bounced around the system..even with a visit to the provincial pain clinic, I have NEVER been given this type of Info. In fact, since I was able to download it as a pdf, I am sending a copy to my doctor today,
I will certainly look up the other books as well..I kinda hope I can find them in audio forum. I have to drive a lot and rather than listen to terrible radio, I like to listen to books..kind of food for the mind. In the winter , while I wait foer my kids that snowboard, I do a lot of suduko. Al well, I real alot !
Is there any place on this forum for me to tell my story ?? I was essentially disabled for the need of a hamburger..
I found this forums on the suggestion of my therapist and my wife. Along with the talk, I kept asking my therapist for reading material. Everyone has a style that speaks to them and I found the books that were offered up were to religious or those that required you to meditate /visualize/etc.. I asked for books that written on, for complete lack of better words, intelligence level that wasn't like a academic paper....or, like the handbook above is written like...I hope I didn't offend by my poor descriptions..I don't mean to but everyone response to their own style..I am not knocking down these authors rather saying that they didn't do anything for me. I was in IT for years so my wife suggested I search on Chronic Pain. Initially, I search on "dealing with pain" and got a quite different subset.
Anyway, thanks..
If you would like me to post, I can.
Ian.
