Cloe,
Stress can affect BP and vice versa. And strokes can have a number of symptoms, but regardless that BP number is EXTREME and you should have it checked in the ER immediately. Nevermind the drug store monitors or even the wrist ones (the latter are somewhat helpful, but not as accurate as you need now and the store ones may or may not be accurate - lots of factors). Besides, this needs medical attention. And coupled with the eye pain, finger numbness (and for you Birlady that bruising is relevant) you really should not wait.
I will repeat what I said to Birdlady - these aren't things to put off, wedding or no wedding. Not even for a day. At the very least CALL an ER and speak to a nurse and tell them these symptoms. Damage can occur that is preventable if caught in the first minutes and hours of a stroke, but may be irreversible later. Is it worth the risk? The injury to your ribs could possibly have resulted in some type of clot. All these part of the puzzle need to be evaluated by medical personnel who understand the symptoms of a stroke and other vascular problems. I'm not a doc, but have worked in health care. Plus I'm in the process of getting some of these things tested for myself (not stroke symptoms, but vascular testing - because I don't want anything serious to happen).
Birdlady - good for you for getting help, but that bruising may be part of it all. I know you mention the limit on conditions you can be seen for (I'm not sure of the technicalities of this) but I would go to webmd and familiarize yourself with the symptoms of stroke and vascular disease - especially for women, and tell you doc you want all of these things ruled out.
I don't want to be an alarmist but this at big ticket items and I want you both to be ok!
PaLady
BTW Cloe it may have nothing to do with not taking care of yourself; sounds like you have some genetic predispositions in your family, and that's a big part of it.
