Hey everyone

I was just wondering if any of you are on Tramadol alone...not taking it w/ other pain meds....

i'd like to hear what you guys think of it.

If it works, if you like it, etc...

I've taken it on and off for years...but my doctor finally let me have a regular monthly prescription of it...and once a while when i need it, he'll just prescribe like 6 pills of vicodin to get me through a bad night.

I've taken pretty much all the regular pain meds...took vicodin (my favorite) for a while, been on percocet, and right before i had my partial hysterectomy cuz of adenomyosis, i was on oxcontin.

Now i'm only on Tramadol. 

Some days it's just not enough.

I have extensive abdominal adhesions and i get bad headaches too.

In the beginning of my chronic back pain I was prescribed ultram and did not help me at all for the pain. If you mix ultram with break through meds it will work.  I hope this helps.

Ultram makes me really sick so I can't take it. When I did take it, it did not work. I am similar to you that I have severe adhesions from a hysterectomy (and three other surgeries) I had due to adeno.

Ultram did nothing for my pain. I tried it when I first started having neurological problems. If i were u I would have a an honest discussion with your doctor about how its working for you. I've found that it is so important to have an honest relationship with your PM doc. I hope you find some relief soon.

Ultram makes me very sick as well and it barely touches any sort of pain.

Well now I took Ultram for years for pain and it worked great, but unfortunately after years of working it stopped working for me. Now I take the percocet and that usually helps me, but even that doesn't work sometimes. I take the Lyrica with it and that seems to cover most of my pain in my legs and feet which is where the fibromyalgia hits me.

I took it for 6 years with celbrex and muscle relaxants but as for pain they did nothing and when i told the doctor time after time he just said thats all i give out and i just can't help you any more and that was when we had great insurance but it changed he said there is no more i can do for you and this new insurance isn't no good and after 6 years it pissed me off cause i did all th injections ,p/t that he ever adviced but all i asked for was better pain control Deb

tramadol can cause headaches or make them worse!!! Well that's what they did for me!!!!! That's just my opinion though!!!

i would never touch them again in my life!!

I take lortab and ultram for breakthrew at night when the pain is bad.  Alone they didnt do anything for me, but combinded with the loritab they worked ok.

I have the extended release (24 hr) Tramadol tablets. I find if I take a Tramadol daily, I don't find the need to take as many Percocets... which I guess is a good thing. But on a really bad day I've taken 2 Tramadols (the max 400mg) along with a Percocet here and there throughout the day -- and that's made me sane. So I say if you can get away with just 1 Tramadol daily with no additional painkillers that's great...that's usually my plan, but doesn't always work for me on a daily basis.

Need to start a new thread about Duragesic and post some more information before anyone, such as myself, may be able to answer your questions. Simply. Yes I have used the Duragesic Patch for pain.

They put me on Ultram for my back and it was like taking nothing.  It didnt do squat.  I had a ruptured disc that took 1 1/2 for them to send me for an MRI so they could see I was not lying about being in pain.  Such $%^&*&*%#@@...... sorrry still have to vent.  The Ultram did not help at all.  I'm on Vicodin and an anti-flamatory now, (had surgery in April 2007) and I still hurt 24/7 which they can not tell me why.  If it works for you, god bless you.  But for me it wasn't worth it.

Tramadol did nothing but make me nauseated and sick, can't take it.

I have been on tramadol extended release 50mg qid for 3 months now. I continue to take it as that is all I can get in hopes that it might start taking away a little of the pain (doc said he's worried that if he prescribed anything else that I would become addicted). No bad side effects from it tho like some people it just doesn't help for any pain relief at all.
