Yes it was used as a pain killer in 4000 BC and heroin was thought to be a cure for morphine addiction. We all know how that idea worked out. NOT.

oh my gosh! you know thats funny you mentioned that. i was at a different forum where it was drs talking about patients (i wish i had the site, cause everyone on here would flip they would be so ticked off) anyhow, this dr was talking about this girl who had "kidney stones" all the time. she said it was her first time working the er, but the others knew her, heres what ticked me off- she had all the symptoms- even the high white blood cell count- to confirm kidney stones. the girl told her that she was clausterphobic about the cat scan & needed something to calm her down (which the dr denied & says the patient screamed the whole time in the cat scan). anyhow there wasn't a good picture so she give her a shot of morphine & some phenergan. (the girl was requesting demeral)(sp). well she said the girl started screaming about how she wasn't even listening & none of the drs ever listen.....it really ticked me off at the dr. i was misdiagnosed 3 times incorrectly when i had kidney stones. so i know it happens.
i WISH i still had the website so you could all go on there & see what drs REALLY say! the just bash people with pain issues. the cold shoulder you get at the hospital dosen't stop there. i would be so angry if i ever found out a dr i saw talked about me to other people.

I'm all for information, but maybe we should check ourselves a bit on this thread. First, forum rules don't permit discussions of illegal behavior, and maybe this is skirting the edges - and can open doors for others to start adding, IMHO.

The issue with women and doctors who may be abusive is another subject altogether. But I also think we need to be careful about people who may post to websites claiming they are doctors. Most of them likely are not. Anyone can claim to be, but unless a site verifies credentials - which could take a lot of work - there's no way to know. Someone could be a tech or a student or be making it up entirely. Most sites that have actual physicians posting are affiliated with an institution like a medical center or university. I'm not saying abuses don't happen - they do - but I wouldn't believe what I read on a website. Most doctors who might do that sort of thing won't do it on a website where they could be potentially traced through an IP address, and lose their license.

I agree that history and knowledge is most always a good thing...in fact essential some times. But remember this IS a family site. We don't want anything on the screen that you wouldn't want your kids to read. I'm a bit uncomfortable with some of what's been posted but I will leave it up to the admin whether or not to edit any of it. I don't think I'd like my 9 year old grandsons reading parts of this thread.
