Percocet and phengran taken together

Has anyone taken percocet and phenegran together. I heard it makes percocet works better. Does anyone know if that is true?

I am a dummy when it comes to oral drugs cause I worked in ICU.....that said we frequently gave phenegran with pain meds to enhance them....just not the oral route.

I have been prescribed the two together a couple of times, but I am not sure my experience is very relevant to anyone else. Everyone is so different when it comes to medications. Were you prescribed phenergan? That is an antiemetic. Have you been having lots of nausea? You also need to be careful with it because it makes a lot of people pretty sleepy. Depending on what your doctor prescribed for you, it may or may not have a small amount of narcotic actually mixed in with the phenergan, so you really need to talk to your doctor or pharmacist about how to take it and whether or not it is safe for you to take it with your percocet.

Phenergan is known as a potentiator for certain narcotics. Be careful taking it with percocet. It can make you drowsy and definitely tell the doctor what you plan to do if you do decide to take them together.

I take phenergan for nausea and you do need to be careful because it can make you extra drowsy when taken with pain meds.

I take phenegran with my percocet every day at bedtime. It helps make them last through most of the night and while it used to knock me out, it doesn't anymore.

Please be careful with it until you know what it will do to you.

Phenergan used to primarily be prescribed for the nausea that accompanies withdrawal, but it can be prescribed for a myriad of other reasons. It is actually an antihistamine.

FDA says it's allowed to be prescribed with pain meds, but the side effects can be serious, especially when added to narcotics. I usually don't do well at all when I take the 2 together (dangerously low bp). My doc writes me for Zofran when I am on narcotics & I keep the phenergan for when I am taking a "drug holiday".

In any case, you definitely need to be under a doctor's care to combine the two and I would make sure someone is with you the first time you take them in case your bp or breathing rate drop too low.

the phenegran and percocet has been helping me alot with my pain and naseua. The doctor know I actually talked to the doctor today and he prescribed me more because he only gave me a little bit to see if it was going to work.  I dont have any insurance right now and cant afford to pay the expensive price they want for zofran so they gave me phenegran because it is cheap.

So glad it's working! That's good news! You're right about the phenergan being a lot cheaper. As long as you don't have side effects, it sounds like a great plan to me! (Maybe there is a silver lining to losing insurance?? ;)

Demerol + phenergan = meprogan.....I only know this because most of the time when I have a migraine, they give me the 2 shots to make the one drug.  I have also taken the capsule meprogan.  It does the same thing

I am happy it is working for you!

Zofran does NOTHING for me. Phenegran works wonders so don't feel bad.

Another thing I tell anyone with tummy troubles. Get some crystallized ginger from your local hippy or asian market and nibble on it. It works wonders.

I had a nice reply for you and hit post & it was gone! ugh! so lets try it again....
I am prescribed both phergran tablets & suppositories... I hardly EVER use the second, but I have a small REALLY bad day. I also have another drug called metocloparm (probably misspelled, look it up) which is a script my PCP had given me as a generic CHEAP alternative to pheregran & its generic. Works pretty well, I use it daily when I just have a little nausea, I get it all the time from oxy.
As far as the shot of phergran, it works OK, not great but it can help.
Now, the IV is another story- especially when you have something else IV going with it...... it can make you super dizzy/fuzzy/sleepy. And I have a high tolerance to pain meds. But since it has some issues with the IV you are going to find an issue with a ER that will dispense it. They usually try Zofran first- which may work for you, it dosen't me- but then they will try Phergran afterwards.
