well I finally seen the dr he wants to do a ct scan on me and he wants to do fusion surgery on my lumbar spine . but his hands are tied right now  until i get insurance. They cut my hubbys hours  at work so im going to go down to see if i can qualify for medicaid. Thats is what my surgeon recommends and he said he would take the medicaid. The next vacation day my hubby can take off going to see if i can qualify for  the medicaid . He refilled my percocet and put me on flexeril for the muscle spasms which i will pick up on thursday. I only have two more days to live with this pain. Wish me luck guys. I couldnt have made through this without you.

Kara sweety, I dont know if you saw my post in the other thread or not but please go back and read it and see if my suggestions re: churches,can do you any good.

And dont get real excited about medicaid just yet as many can tell you that if your not on SSI or welfare or have kids in the house and disabled it is filled with cracks many of us fall thru. It also is very restricted as to what meds it will cover and how many and the hoops you have to jump thru to get what med works for you.

I wish you lots of luck but please dont sit there waiting for Thursday in pain get ont hat phone and find someone to help you get it now.

I dont belong to any churches so dont know who to call. Does anyone have any suggesstions?

Kara, I'd kinda hold off on the surgery, yes get the ct scans, have you been through
pain management clinics? Have you done injections? Have you done the RF procedures,
radiofrequency? Have you tried the stimulator implanted??
There is also keyhole surgery which my doc wants to do but insurance says it's expermental,
what a load of bull from insurance this procedure has been around for years and FDA approved...
It's called percuctaneous discectomy probe by styrker....
Surgery should be last resort, as many of friends of mine have said
once you start surgery always be surgery..A lady down here was told she needed surgery
and ya know what, she said "not til she can't walk anymore" was kinda awesome to hear
this from her and her disc are so very bad...Sometimes if your lucky the surgery will last you
about ten years and that's what my friends have told me...
Sure wish I could help you more...any christain church might be able to help you..ect lutheran, methodist, baptists, ect....

Kara,
I would go to your state's website. It probably has information on your state's requirements for Medicaid. Remember Medicaid is a combination Federal/State program, so states can make their own regulation about it. Medicare is a federal program, and you either qualify for that by age or disability.

If you google your state you should get the website. Then search for Medicaid and there may either be a phone number for you to call, or a way you can search online to get info. on whether you qualify. I finally had to call someone by phone, because searching the website still confused me. But your husband shouldn't have to take a day off of work. First thing you'll probably need to know is his income, then your assets. Then someone on a phone should be able to tell you what the limits are.

Sadly, like angel said, there are all these cracks we all seem to fall through. But it's worth a try!

Kara get in the phone book then and I have found that Catholic churches help way more then anyone and just get them on the phone and ask whomever answers if they have a benevolent fund that would help with something like that. Ask your friends if they belong to a church and if they could ask their Minister for you.

Good Luck and dont ever sit there without meds ask someone and I know thats hard to do sometimes. Churches are really great places to start and I found when my friends son passed away in August that alot of them have burial funds and and they even told her the County Judge Exec also has funds for burial needs with kids. I thought that was awesome as I didnt think there was anywhere that helped with that kind of thing. So you just never know what you will find out when you start asking questions!

I almost forgot do a little research on that surgery a I have heard more I wish I hadnt then I am glad I dids!
