Anyone use Liquid Oxycodone?

Hi, I posted early in april that I was gonna try & cut down from my 30mg ir oxycodone pills of wich I took five a day to 12 percocet 10/325's a day wich was a 30mg cut a day. Well it did not work out at all & thankfully I have a Dr.'s appt. in the morning.

So I called 3 pharmacists today & asked if they had the 30mg pills in stock yet & one said yes & the other 2 said no. But one that said no said she had been telling her customers to ask the Dr. for liquid oxycodone as they have plenty of that stuff. I said wouldn't that be kind of a mess & she said no & it measures 30 mg's acurrately.

So I was wondering how many mg's come in a bottle. I need 150mg's a day for 30 days. Reason I am asking is my insurance has a thing online where I can punch in what I need & it tells me wether it is covered or not.

Also does this stuff work as good as the pills?

I can't remember if I welcomed you before, so I'll greet you now and welcome you to the chronic pain forum. You know, this is the first I've heard of a liquid formulation, but that only means I've not read anything so far on this forum. You could punch in the liquid and see how much is covered by your insurance; I would think it should be what you need - the equivalent to the pill form - for the month, but with insurances you never know. I'd ask the pharmacist or your doctor how the liquid tends to work for people. I'd be curious to learn what you find out.

When I punch in the liquid oxycodone on the insurance website it then asks "How many Packages?"

So I have no idea how many mg's are in a package so I can't go any farther. So I was hoping someone knew the package size.

Try going to the manufacturer's website. They should list the different formulations it's available in, including the sizes and strengths of the liquid, although it's probably going to be hard to tell (unless they give a conversion table) how much liquid is the equivalent to the pill.

Well I ended up & went with getting the 30mg IR pills filled today. Thank the good Lord! My pharmacist talked as though slowly but surely we are gonna be outta this shortage mess soon.

But I would still love to hear any info on the liquid oxycodone from people who have taken it.

Also if anyone of you have to take an alternative be very careful if you decide to maybe take less medicine than you was as I went thru a rough three weeks taking just 30mg's less a day. I had to take alot of advil & xanax wich I do not like taking if I can help it. But with the help of the Lord I made it. And reading alot of encouraging posts here on this chronic pain forum helps alot also. Good Luck to everyone.

I have used liquid once when I was so sick that I couldn't keep anything down. It is rather effective as an IR, but sucks as a SR. If you ever have to go with this formula, I would suggest talking to you doc about smaller dosing more frequently so that you can maintain pain control.

PS...the taste reminded me of bad cherry Jello-shots when I was young and still in school. LOL

I kind of wondered about the aborption issue. Thanks for answering that. I had a feeling it wouldn't last as long, and more frequent doses might be needed, but no one here has ever mentioned the liquid formulation before - yet with the shortage who knows what might be available in some places. Thanks for th info.
