Wish I could train my cat

I have a kitten that is about 5 months old I wish I could train him for massage therapy. Every once in a while the cat will jump up on the back of the chair I am sitting in and then place his front paws on either side of my neck. He will then spend up to a minute "walking" in place on my shoulders, neck and upper back and I can't even begin to describe how wonderful that feels. He is just heavy enough and puts just enough pressure on things to dramatically ease the pain in those areas, plus the purring he does while doing this is very soothing.

Ahh if only I could train him to do it more often, but then again if I did I would probably look funny walking around with a cat on my back all the time.

Hi there, I usually post in the Fibromyalgia page. I know exactly what you mean. about ten years ago I trained my cat to do that. He started doing what your cat did; it's a natural loving expression. I encouraged him with treats and used a couple key words. And when he heard them he'd climb up on the chair - it was a really nice part of our relationship. Not that I'm a kooky cat lady or anything. : )

I agree with the others, cat treats and catnip are ways used to train a cat..
It is possible, they use food on a clicker spoon to train the kitties in those commercials..
so food and treats are your motivaters for cats...

When my lil kitty hears the greenies bag open it's like hyped up super cat!
He sure likes his greenies, the chicken flavored ones...
He really likes the chicken flavored toothpaste too..
I get the toothpaste from the vet and it can be expensive but well worth a healthy/happy cat....
