Well, I filed for SSD yesterday w/ a lawer down in the big city> Tampa. Geeze, thats alot of paperwork, had writers cramp bad! Now I have to go see all my dr's next week and see if any will back me up. I'm not feeling to good about that part especially my wonderboy neuro surgeon who keeps telling me my neck will get better by the next time I see him! It's worse now than it was a month after surgery! He did cure all the symptoms on the left side but now I have pain in my spine itself! We'll just have to wait and see if he and my urologist and pcp will help me out. The lady at the attornies office said I had a really good chance to get it on the second try 6mo~year if the doc's help me due to my age and amount of problems. I guess now it's just a waiting game! I'm not going to stress it though, thank GOD my wife is working!!!!!!!

Pete, you forgot to tell them that you knew all of us. That probably would have cinched it. I hope that you don't have to wait for the second round. Blessings my friend.

Wow, well I sure hope you can get ssd...maybe my six doctor could meet with your six doctors, just a joking...
Ask that wonderboy doc of your seen about getting updated x-rays done of your back.. something as your
still in pain...Sometimes I wish I drop kick these guys like a hockey puck..Did wonderboy doc flunk compassion 101??

Good Luck Pete!!! I just filed about 2 wks ago but didn't get a lawyer yet. Figured I'd try round 1 on my own. I'm rather nervous about the outcome but all we can do is try. I'm 52, I had thought about filing earlier but I wanted to get past the 50 yr mark. You have a better chance of them not trying to rehabilitate you to some ridiculous profession which you know nothing about. I'm in Ohio.

good luck pete , i filed mine last of october 08 and got my ssd end of march 09, 1st time around. just remember to have someone close, spouse/relative write a letter to ssd explaining how your disabilities affect your everyday living. example need help getting meals, or dressing etc. my wife wrote one and my attorney said it would help and it did.

Pete - points to you for getting a lawyer first! I filed in November 2006 and waited until this last round to get a lawyer. My hearing before the administrative law judge is scheduled for the 17th. We are hoping this judge will see that I don't hurt because it's fun to sit at home all day in pain. I'd rather be doing just about any job than sitting at home all day. Hubby knows being home all the time drives me batty.

Sometimes I wish there was a magic button we could press that would allow these people to spend just 24 hours in our shoes. I'm pretty sure they would all be singing different tunes if they did.

Pete,

I hope this goes well and quickly for you.  Having a lawyer is really supposed to help with this process.  Please keep us posted.  Take care and best of luck.

Just an encouragement, I got SSI my first try with no attourney...just a really smart hard working mom to help.

AngMichelle, did you get ssi or ssdi the first time? They are two different things. Just curious.

     Good evening *huggs* I am glad to see  you again. Though I dont know a thing about SSD.. I did want to tell you that I hope everything ges well and that your able to get all you doctors on board. Sounds like it will go smoothly if you can get Dr. Wonder Boy on board too!

I just saw your picture with fatherjohn! You didn't tell us that you were so good looking! What a nice picture. Your sons must be very proud of their father!

I will be rooting for you from up here in Pennsylvania! I would be sure to add any past diagnoses still affecting you - like any residual effects from the cancer, as well as the depression, the effect on your marriage, etc.

I think getting all the i's dotted and t's crossed with the doctors (and I want to check all their records before they go out to SSD to be sure!) is the hardest part. It would be different if we just had one doctor to deal with, but most of us have multiple docs. Don't forget about things like PT.

Thank Y'all so much for all your well wishes! It sounds like there will be a few of us going through this together, we will be able to compare notes and help each other! I would have been lost w/o the help of others here who have already been down this road, you know who you are! I'm trying to not get all worked up about this thing but I'm pretty sure that will happen sooner or later because as some of you know, I just hate injustess and government bs that unfairly holds good people back. Good luck to all of us!

Good luck w/ your SSD.... I'm six months into my applications...I've learned a lot here from others, too....

I just mostly wanted to add that I agree w/ PaLady and Skeye - you are very handsome!! It's nice to put a face to people here.

Pete, I do wish you the best. I hope you get approved the first time! You have all of us on your side keeping our fingers and toes crossed. Hang in there and believe. Keep us posted to the outcome. I hope it won't take too long to find out.

You sound good. I know being back with your wife again and leaving the wacko boss has done wonders for you. And getting to see your son. You've had some great things happening. I am happy for you!

I loved seeing the picture of you and fatherjohn. It is great to put a face with a name. I would do the same but I am not all that technical and am not sure I know how to do it...
