Pharmacy gave to many pills

WOW, if someone needs 4 diffrent type of strong narcotics, I think it would be time to get a pain pump or something, I couldnt imagine wanting to take that many pills for pain, can you imagine the constiption, and it's sad if that's all she's getting for pain, I hope she also had other things like a NSAID or cymbalta, and to count it out loud?? OMG, she might as well as had a sign on her saying "please rob me, I have lots of goodies", I wouldnt be letting anyone know I had those type of med on me. I would say she has one of those candy shop doctors, I use to see one when I first started going to the doc for pain reasons and had no idea that it wasnt normal, she would always push more and more pain meds on me and I always told her I dont think thats gonna help and she would act shocked when I told her no thanks, she eventually lost her license, so my guess is that is whats happing, UNLESS maybe her and her husband see the same doctor at the same time and she was just filling for the both of them at the same time, reason for 2 long acting meds and 2 breakthrough meds, I sure hope that is what was happening, but she still shouldnt of been counting out loud and letting everyone know she had those, it wouldnt surprise me if one day she gets followed home by some person/s and get's herself robbed. That women must live in a whole other world thinking that she wasnt gonna get robbed, do you have any idea how many people go to the pharmacy just to hunt down people like her and follow her home, it happens all the time, I had a weird looking guy about a month ago at my rite aid when I was getting my suboxone filled and he kept eyeing me and following me around the store when I was waiting for them to fill it, so I called my father and he came down and walked me out and I drove to his house. Some people are just creepy, and this guy did follow me out the store but quickly left when he saw my father. I sure hope he wasnt up to no good and I was just over reacting, but you never know.

Wow! The posts about the lady and all her meds reminds me of an incident on the NYS Thruway. I have a handicapped parking permit that I rarely use, but sometimes really need, especially on long drives. Someone had a comment because I don't have crutches or a wheelchair, and when I do it just right, I walk fine. The comment: "You look fine to me! You don't need handicapped parking." My response: "Well, you won't mind then if I wish it on you, since you'll handle it so much better than me!" The guy was shocked - especially since he had no idea exactly what I was wishing on him! LOL!! From that point on that's my stock answer to rude little comments about my parking in the handicapped spaces even though I look just fine!

Hi everyone! To Shaw31 - I didn't mean to hijack your thread about returning the pills to the pharmacy! This kind of took on a life of its own. Ok, just wanted to clear up a few things. First, I honestly was not trying to judge this woman with all the pain medication. I am one of those who, for the most part, does not look like someone with chronic pain. Second, I am fairly certain all of the scrips were hers because the pharmacy attaches all of the "description pages" and receipts together for each individual person. I have seen her there before but never paid much attention because I was usually leaving as she got there. As for the types of pain medications she had, I am prescribed percocet 5/325 AND oxycodone 15mg, because my doctor wants me on a reduced amount of acetiminophen and also (through trial and error), we found that this combination works best for me. But add to that the oxycontin and fentanyl patches she also got and I just thought it was odd. Finally, it concerned me for a couple of reasons. Part of me feels compassion that she may have a very painful condition that is not visible and she has a high tolerance. Or, she fell "victim" to a pill mill doctor who could possibly be part of her demise. Or, that she gets that much medication and sells it on the street to kids like my 16 year old. These are the only reasons that I brought this up. I have a fairly high tolerance after 20+ years on pain medication, but I don't think I'd be able to see past my eyelids if I was on all of her meds!

 

I just didn't want anyone thinking that I was judging this woman. That's just not me.

I agree, I don't want to keep this going either.   To tell you the truth, my main concern, living in Florida, is that this lady has fallen victim to one of our many "pill mills". The doctors in these clinics put patient health in the back seat. Their main concern is the money they make from people who are addicted to pain medication. This is a HUGE problem in Florida, and one of the main reasons why they approved a prescription monitoring system during the last legislative session. We have a free "newspaper" here called 'Creative Loafing' and in many of the issue there are advertisements that are headed (in large letters): "Got pain? We can help!" or others to that effect. They go on to specifically list certain pain medications they will prescribe. There are also billboards in certain areas that contain similar wording. The other concerns I mentioned in my other post are just other things that ran through my mind. I fought long and hard to find help with my pain. I was very particular who I went to; I was desperate for relief but did not want a doctor who would just throw pain meds at me with no questions asked. I am legitimate and I wanted a legitimate doctor. Add to that the fact that legitimate doctors who are willing to prescribe narcotics are VERY hard to find. My pain (except for my DDD pain) was hard to diagnose and I was looked at as a "pillseeker" more than a few times, until I found a compassion doctor/surgeon who believed in me, opened me up, and discovered I really wasn't a liar/pillseeker/whacko/nutcase, etc. To better explain my abdominal adhesions, it took 45 minutes to remove my last son (by c-section), a process that normally should take no longer than a minute or two.
