Physical Therapy - Muscle Relaxer

I've been going to Physical Therapy for about 2 weeks for my upper back.  I have flexeril left over from a strained muscle, but I am kind of scared to take it.  I took 3 advils this morning.  That didn't help.  I can still feel the strain in my back.  I have so much work to do and I can't do anything if the side effects cause drowsiness.  I have to do several physically straining tasks today and complete an order that requires a lot of bending.  I also need to drive.  Can you drive and take flexeril?

I cried this morning because I feel so sore and helpless.  Trying to find a doctor is so hard.  My doctor just suggested Physical Therapy and never did address the existing pain.    She did not prescibe the flexeril, but knows I have it.  Any suggestions would help.

I'm basing my suggestion on the fact that your current doctor knows you have this medication that was prescribed by a different physician. I would call you pharmacist, the one who prescribed the flexeril, and ask them this question. And/or call the prescribing doctor and ask.

I had this medication a very long time ago and I do remember getting very drowsy from it and would never consider driving while taking it. BUT...I currently take both Oxycodone ER and and regular oxycodone. I hate them both but it's the only medication that helps bring my pain level down to a point where I can function. Since I have been taking them daily for several years I can drive and function almost normally. But if I begin to feel overly tired or sleepy I do NOT drive. Since you have not been taking flexeril on a regular basis I would not even consider driving while taking it. Also no alcohol, cold or allergy medicine, narcotic pain medicine, sleeping pills, and medicine for seizures, depression or anxiety. These can add to sleepiness caused by Flexeril.
