So, I have a quick story. I'm not telling it for sympathy...just want to vent and also I get frustrated that people are sometimes very insensitive. Also, I'd like to know if something similar has ever happened to anyone here (just curious).

I was working yesterday and there were a group of painters outside of the building. One man told me that I was walking pretty fast. Now, I use a cane but sometimes if I'm in a rush I do walk fast. Also, I was very hunched over. Well, when he thought I wasn't looking at him, he made fun of me the way I was walking to the other painters--he was imitating me...not for long but enough for me to catch it. So then, he walked to the door and opened it for me and told me to hurry up because he wouldn't hold the door for me forever.

I work with children. I have had a few here and there call me a cripple and other names that upset me, but I talk to them and explain everything and try to help them to be more sensitive to others. I have never had an adult make fun of me. I went home and was very upset. I'm over it now though because I guess that there are just some people who aren't very nice.

Flower, some people are just plain old-fashioned mean. I can't help but wonder how those "men"  would feel if someone did what they did to you to THEIR mom (or dad, daughter, son). Bet they wouldn't like it too much. I would have liked to have said to them, "Maybe some day they'll have a cure for what I have, but YOU will ALWAYS be a jacka**. Karma will get them eventually. smilewinkgrin   You are a better person than them.

Truly that man deserved the idiot of the week award. Two years ago I was meeting my 18 year old daughter who is 4'11"'s and 105 lbs at the local Target store. She had beat me there and when she saw my car she got out of hers and started walking to where I had been patiently waiting for an elderly couple to get into their car and leave the handicap spot. I mean I waited like 4 or 5 minutes for this spot and I had my blinker on and everything.

Well here comes this middle aged man. He saw me waiting and just pulled right in there. I was astounded when his passenger literally jumped from the car and all but sprinted to the store. I honked my horn because I just couldn't believe this pair of men had actually done this. Then my daughter started yelling at them and I told her to stop and behave and I would just find another spot and I did just that.
Well, when I finally got myself to the entrance of the store the passenger dude was waiting there.. He started cusing me out for honking. He was actually cursing at me, stating that he wasn't driving and I didn't look at all like I had a disability. Then here comes my daughter again with her mouth...lol I was feeling like a muddy puddle by this time and security ended up getting involved.. I was so embarrassed I just wanted to fade into oblivion.

I am so the "INTROVERT".. I run from confrontations and the like. But here I was red faced and having to listen to this man call me everything in the book.

Some people just have no cuthe or conscience at all. I happen to believe that one day these people are gonna get bit in the behind. What goes around comes around.

Some people are just so immature...My best friend has to use a scooter all the time to get around outside (she's unable to drive after her stroke 5 years ago)and in order to get out of our apartments you have to go thru your front door then out the main hallway door, but their are doors to other apartments in the hallway too. Well my friend has to take the long way around in order to get her scooter out the door without making the scooter tip over or hurt herself, and that means passing by the door of these weird and very immature neighbor, who are also very rude to her(cause they love to party which includes doing alot of illegal stuff, so my friend has called the cops and cps on them). Well one day she was going outside on her scooter and some older lady was knocking on her neighbor's door, screaming "let me in" while giving my frined a weird look, then as my friend drove closer this lady started screaming "Shoo!! get away from me you...you...thing...just shoo!!". And then she started banging on the door harder screaming "let me in!! this thing is trying to get me!!". It made my friend very upset, she was just minding her own bussiness, riding her scooter to the local gas station to get a soda and snack, she wasnt even paying attention to this lady til she started screamming those weird stuff. It makes me so angry that my friend was treated that way. She's noticed that people are either really rude to her or very helpful when she's on her scooter in the public. LOL one day she was driving along the sidewalk and she took a big drink of her soda, then suddenly she hears a cop siren, and she sees a cop pull up along the side of her, and he said thier's no drinking and driving, and they both started laughing, then he told her to drive safe and drove off, I guess he thought he was being funny.

i used to be very shy around people, but these days i don't let stuff like that slide. if i were standing next to you, i probably would have told the guy off. while i know it could be dangerous in some situations, i think putting someone in their place is very very good medicine.

How awful! Some adults are more childish than children. Obviously those guys were total losers. I wouldn't give them a second thought. And if they say anything again, tell them to grow up! They ought to know that everyone has issues in their lives -- some of us can't walk straight, some of us have hidden illnesses, some people are terribly shy & some people do not ever learn how to be decent human beings. There are so many nice people in this world, don't let a few immature morons bring down your day. I think it's really wonderful what you are teaching your students. It is so important what you do b/c now they will grow up to be caring, sensitive, thoughtful adults who will truly make our world a nicer place. :)

I don't understand why people are so cruel! There is really no excuse for behaving that way. I'm sorry that you had to witness that! Hopefully karma will come around & get this guy one day.

Flower, I am so very sorry this happened to you. What an idiot this person is. Can you imagine how he treats everyone else if he does this to a total stranger? I too walk with a cane and I walk hunched over. I have been very fortunate to say the least when I am out. Most people are very kind as far as opening a door for me or something along that line. But we all know there is one in every crowd and he was it for that day. I do believe in "what goes around comes around" lol.

I'm so sorry you had to expeirence some idiot!!! At work I had one younger co-worker make a comment about how I walk about 1 year ago. But now that he has gotten to know me if he thinks I'm having a bad day he says to me Are you Ok Miss Laurie?

I really want to believe that in time some people grow up I know some don't but I can always hope.

Karma will come back and bite them in the butt someday if they don't chose to grow up and grow a heart

I bet he thought he was doing you a kindness with holding the door open, but he was very insensative.
