i am having problems staying awake no matter wat i am doing i fall asleep.ill be sitting there txting an next thing i know i wake up an tha phone still in my hands.my pain meds used to give me lots of energy but not anymore i just wanta sit an do nuthing i used to get up in the morning and get my two year old grandaughter an do sumthing i dont even care if she comes over rite now and thats not me.She spent the hole summer with me shes with me more than her mother her mom would just call an ask she staying an i would say ya now i say no i dont know wat is wrong with me some days i feel i just dont wana go on but i realy do

First of all this is something you really need to see you doctor about. My guess is that it is nothing more than the way your body is dealing with the pain meds, but lets be honest. It could be a lot of other things as well.

While waiting to see you doctor though the only advice I can give you is to avoid caffeine and sugar. These can cause crashes the way it is and combined with the pain meds can intensify the reaction. Try eating a lot of fruit and veggies and go easy on the fats too. The energy sources from "good" foods will last longer than those from the over processed stuff. Also taking a multi vitamin or two every day, especially on high in B-12 may also help.

Peanut, when my cursor crossed over the word pain in your post it turned green, then if I placed the cursor over the word a commercial for Orajel came on. Just curious to see why that is, I've never seen it before here.

jim1969 thank you for tha advise everything i here will help and i do drink alot of caffeine i will try to lay off that for awhile an see wat happens i have another doc apt in a week the meds i am takin is realy brakin my face out to i guess that is wat is happening if it ant one thing its another but owell but anywaz ganna get off here before i fall asleep lol i feal a little better at the moment but thanks for ur advise take care

Welcome to the Healiong Well Chrtonic Pain Forum! The first question I am going to ask you is how are you sleeping? Do you wake up allot during the night? Do you snore? Do you have any night sweats? Or do you have to go the the bathroom allot during the night? Do you ever wake up in the night gasping for air? or choking? Do you have problems with your legs at night when you try to go to bed? Like you want to move them or they ache or feel funny and it prevents you from sleeping. Do you find your self fallling a sleep during the day? There are allot of things that can cause you to be tired like you are, and you really do need to see your Doctor and talk to him about all your symptoms. If you are having any of the sleeping propblems that I askedyou about, you may need to have a sleep study done, as you may have something going on there. Of course all this is just suggestions, as you need to see your Doctor and get this resolved.

white beard thank you az i read wat u wrote it got me to thinkin alot off the the ? u were asking i do have that problem i realy never thot of those problems thank u i will discuse this with my doc on my next doc apt. thank you so much for making me think lol i try not to do much of that very offten it makes my head hurt lol thank u

Excessive daytime sleepyness (sp?) is a symptom of atypical depression. That might be something worth considering.

Allot of the stuff I mentioned have to do with having sleep apnea, if you if you have that it is easily treated, but you do need to see your Doctor! Good Luck to You

Really, most of what your problems with falling asleep during the day could be are easily treated. The "hard" part may be finding the cause or causes.

Thanks two everyones help hadant been able to get on here in awhile now going threw problems with my hubby wat else is gana happen but anywaz thank yall alot an i did go to the doctor last week an he did not help me with my problems other than my pain

Hi and welcome...You have come to the right place, we all have some knowledge about CP even though we are not Doctors.  Now, about the falling asleep thing... I take Methadone and sometimes, especially when I haven't been sleeping well, I will "NOD" off while doing everyday things.  Now, some might think that's funny, but it's not...it's scary.  I also have Sleep Apnea like Whitebeard mentioned...I take Provigil to help combat the sleepiness.  I also know that Depression can cause this as well...I really agree with everyone and say that seeing your Dr. is KEY.  I'm sure it's nothing serious, but having it checked out is important... That way you can have your Granddaughter over again and have fun...That will be the best medicine ever.

well ~ ME ~ LOL thanks for listening i think it my meds that was makin me nod off couse IF i get enough sleep im fine but wen i dont im on an off all day.well thanks to everyone that listened an i pray for one day everyone to be pain free god bless
