Ugh. My pain is awful right now and I have a 102.5 fever. I don't want to miss work today, but I guess I'll have to...don't want to get little ones sick. But, even though I am in the field of education, they don't want me (or others) to take off if we're sick. It's pretty awful...the way the district works. Oh well. I guess the world will keep spinning w/o me.

If you're working, do you get in trouble for taking sick days?

Thoughts are really scattered now but just took aspirin for fever.

Thanks for reading my probably incoherent babbling.

I'm sorry your feel so bad,hope it eases up soon for you. We don't get in trouble using our sick days but they would rather you not use them. Take care

Isn't that crazy. When they talk about the flu on tv they tell people not to go to work or school if you are running a fever or show flu like symptoms yet employers don't want you to miss. How are they going to stop the H1N1 virus with this mentality. Don't forget to wash your hands often so other family members don't get sick.

Flower take care of yourself and drinks lots of fluids and something for the fever.

Flower, I'm home sick with the flu, too. I teach first graders. You know how hygenic they are.

I started taking Tamiflu when the symptoms started hitting me Saturday. I'm feeling better today. Last fever spike was at 4:00 yesterday (99 degrees- normal for me is 97.2). Doctor says I need to go 24 hours without a fever before returning to class.
I miss my babies! One was moving away yesterday and I had to talk to her on the phone to tell her goodbye. Go get the Tamiflu, it has cut my symptoms down greatly.

Hint - Tylenol is better for fevers than aspirin ;)

I've finished a week of tamiflu, a week of double dose antibiotics......and I'm still sick. I can't catch a break lol. On the bright side, I've got textbooks for College, so I can do most of my work from home. Been keeping in touch with the lecturers via e-mail, and they've been very helpful and informative.

I don't like swine flu very much. The pigs can have it back, as far as I'm concerned. Naughty bacon disease sneaking up on me like that. My fever has spiked to 102.6 this afternoon, I don't understand why I'm not better yet. My chest hurts :( (On hold to speak with my doctor as I type this, before anyone panics).

Couchtater and Flower, hope you both feel better very soon.

try the chicken noodle soup and plenty of liquids,
we just got our daughter out of isolation, she was feeling better, no fever
and was finally sleeping thru the night...though the trip was harder on me pain wise than I expected...
HUGZ and lots of them...

They say if you take it in the first 48 hours of becoming sick it can cut the symptoms in half and shorten the duration.
It seems true to me. My fever never rose over 100 and I never experienced the chills (did tremble, though). I sweated alot and muscles were achy and tired. I'd cough my head off if it wasn't for the hydrocon syrup. Throat was swollen for 3 days and some sniffles.
I've had no fever for 24 hours so I can return to work tomorrow (little cheer, very little cheer).
This is day five of being sick.

The last "normal" job I had was with Wal Mart. The store I worked in would get upset when people called in sick, and became very upset if any of the management (department managers on up) would call in sick. They would lay the guilt trip on you so bad many people would come to work sick and spend the day coughing and sneezing all over the place. The pressure to come to work stopped, or at least lessened big time after 3/4 of the stores employees called in sick one day after coming down with the flu at the same time from 3 employees who came to work while ill.
