Hey all, sorry I haven't written in awhile, but I have had a pretty rough week.  When I refilled my Kadian last month my reg. pharmacy did not have any to fill the script, so I was forced to go to Wal-Mart to fill it.  Well.....this is where everything got messed up.  I was 5 days short from being able to go all month without any further problems (btw...the knee is still hurting bad!) and I called in Friday to get my meds.  Now at that point I was okay, but on tuesday when I didn;t have that envelope in the mail from my doc I went into a panic and began to count pills.  Seems I have had to take one every twelve hours instead of 2 every 12 because I don't want to run out and according to my figures I would have had enough to make it through until this evening.  But, now I am out and my meds will hopefully be here tomorrow.  If they aren't I am in a real pickle. 

To help me out my doctor added a percocet to the mix...so now since I am out I can take 2 percocet every 3 hours until the script is filled.  Thank god for that at least.  Its a tiny bit of relief, but not as much as I'd like it to be.  If the script isn't here by tomorrow they will set up another, but I will have to go get it.  So here we go with another trip to Wichita to pick up meds.  Can't the pharmacy get one thing right???  Anyway....2 percocet every 3 has made me a little loopy and now I am feeling very sleepy.  I have to go to PT in the morning and think I will get some sleep.

Haven't you been on these meds for quite a while now? You would think that these pharmacies would know their customers and be prepared to have them their medications???? I really don't think that is to much to ask of them???? Did your Reg pharmacy have a reason that they could not fill your prescription? I don't rely on Wal-Mart Pharmacy for anything! Anyway I am glad you have a good understanding Doctor! I hope you do get everything straightened out tomorrow! But from what you say I just don't think this should of happened! After all who is the one that has to suffer from all this?

Sorry to hear about all the confusion with the meds. Hope you got some sleep last night and you can get everything sorted out today. Keep us posted on how everything turns out.

   Scarred, did I hear you correctly? Wichita...as in Wichita KS? You may have told me this before, but with the meds I tend to forget easily. As forthe problem of getting the scripts filled on time....I understand, and have been bitten in this area before. It is not fun at all. When I was put on Oxycontin in addition to the Percocet, that helped me greatly, especially when the Dr is gone for a few days and the script didn't get filled. I relate very well to the counting pills, and you begin to sweat, as you realize your going to be short. Taking pain meds is a whole lot different than taking an asprin. We can skip an asprin, but skipping a pain med is a whole nother thing! Keep us updated, and we all wish you well.

So sorry your having to deal with this..is there another pharmacy, other than wal-mart that could help...
I sure hope this pharmacy treats yo better in the future.......good luck to you in getting thru this..
Lots of soft hugz...I always count my pills when I get home, sad to says so that they don't undercount...
Kroger's is usually been good to me except for when I was switched from vicodin hp to oxycodone, as
I had to use a compounding pharmacy to gt the oxycodone, as Kroger's does not stock it...My PM Doc
allows me to go to a compounding pharmacy if needed....

Panic mode!!! I have been there and it sucks!! But you are strong and you will make it... Those pills will be in your hands tomorrow my friend...don't worry. but I do understand....

Hey gang! Sorry I didn't write sooner but things got a little crazy! I recieved my scripts yesterday. Headed for my pharmacy yay!! I thought. Then the big crash.....my pharmacy was out of my Kadian and my percocet!!!! Holy moly talk about ticked off!!!! Okay so Walmart had the 200mgs of Kadian which I have taken once before when they were out of 100s so they filled the script and I headed back up to my reg pharmacy and found out that they were out of percocet. Now I am in lots of pain as I have just come from PT for the knee and I've just waited 20 minutes for one script at walmart. So off I go back to Walmart to get the other script filled and wait another 20 min for them to be picked up.

By the time I got home I was so exausted and in so much pain all I wanted to do is lay down and cry. So...I spent the rest of the day layng down in a little ball waiting for the meds to kick in. Now today I feel like I've been run through a hamburger grinder and have a real bad stuffed up head.

To top that off...I did not sleep well last night as my mom went to the ER unable to catch her breath. Found out that she has an enlarged heart and has fluid on her lungs! Uggg when it rains it pours huh? Plus she had a silent stroke! Dang it they wanted to admit her and she refused! I am so mad at her and so worried! The doc put her on lasix and she has a reg doc appt today. I sure hope everything is ok.

awww thanks praying I really appreciate you! I was able to rest a bit yesterday and so I feel a bit better today. Mom went to the doctor yesterday and she has a heart problem where her heart is enlarged (don't remember what they call it). They put her on lasix for the fluid on her lungs which scares the crud out of me. Also she has some other problems that they are addressing one by one concentrating on the most urgent things first. She was told by her doctor that the next time the ER wanted to admit her that she was to OBAY and do as she is told. about time someone got on her eh? LOL

She's on Predizone, Leviquine and Lasix and it seems to be helping. Monday she is suppose to make an appt for a stress test so that will be done soon. So it looks like she is being well cared for. Which pleases me to no end.

Anyway, guess I'll close for now. I have to go pack for the trip to Thanksgiving. Hope you all have a grand Thanksgiving!

Scarred, I'm so glad that she's doing better. There's nothing like that fear that happens when something goes wrong with the parents. I know it used to make me frazzled. I'm glad that you're finally able to start getting some rest too, and I wish you a wonderful thanksgiving as well.

Me too Scarred, I'm sorry that I seem to have missed this. I hope that your mom is feeling much better as the days go by. Watch the prednisone though. It can cause a whole bunch of problems that she doesn't need.

Hi guys and gals! I'm sitting here awake at 1:15 am because once again I am woken up by the horrible pain in both my left leg and knee! Gawd I am really beginning to hate all of this and wish it would just end! Had a pain doc appt. yesterday and she looked over my knee and wrote some things down. Took a listen to my heart and lungs, (geee I have a small wheeze there that is from the years of smoking) and checked over the endless list of medications that I take every day without fail. She said that since we are pretty much on an even keel with my medication that she wanted to get a sirum level to see where all my meds were (another I do not trust an ex-drug addict) and she led me back to the part of the building where they stick everyone for blood. Sat there for another five minutes (you all know what five minutes feels like when your in gobs of pain) while the nurse decided which vien she liked and then off she went to get another nurse to check her work. HUH???? Anyway the other nurse comes in and pokes at my veins....finds one she likes and pokes the needle in my right arm OUCH! Gee imagine that.....the vein rolled! Well one more try.....this time in my forearm on the left arm with a butterfly needle (which may I add....is now bruised like a fallen peach!) zip....notta..not happening. That figures, my veins are always hard to draw blood from. So they bring another nurse in....by now I'm feeling like a dang pin cushion. But this nurse is different....she is an ex IV nurse! Yippie one stab and done! Only thing is she nailed my forearm of my right arm OUCHIE!!! But no bruise and it got done hehehe.


I head for my psych appt and by the time we get out of there it's 4pm and another hour and a half trip to home. Things went well with the psych. It seems that I am to do a post scs daily routine so that doc can see I plan to keep up with everything once I am approved for the SCS. Here is my problem with this....Worker's Compensation! I think they are getting the cart before the horse here with things. I don't even know if WC is gonna go for this. They have already denied me twice and are not keen on this procedure anyway. So what happens if WC denies the claim no matter what my doc says? I mean we are planning in the event I even GET the device....not what happens if WC denies it. Guess I will have to take this up with my psych doc next time I see him.

Okay, I know this has already become a long post so what I so...I will post another topic to covering my mom's health cause it too is alot of information.
