to all of my friends here on HW.....I just have not been myself...and know that I have had a hard keeping up with all the post here. The Oxycontin has just pushed me over the edge into the fog to where I can not function properly anymore. I'm really trying hard to stay on board with you all and reaslly do care about you...but Im struggling so hard to keep up with my own mind. Maybe it's just me, or maybe some of you have noticed...I'm not sure...and just feel like I'm rambling on here, but I am aware that I'm this way and I hate it...as I really want to provide you all with support. White Beard...I read your post the other day..and really wanted to comment on it but just could not get it done.....samething with PaLady and several more of you....so sorry fore being this way. I'm hoping that after the surgery I can get back to my normal self again...and will always support here. My blessings and prayers out to all of you...and Thank you for your support! :)

You have to take care of yourself first. If you don't you won't or can't be much good to anyone else.

no problem, reply when you can, sure wish you can get off the oxycontin soon, it messed me up too...the problem I had with
the oxycontin is I had a real hard time staying awake, I took it as directed too...So please know we care and understand..

Michael as they say don't sweat the small stuff. Everyone here at one time or another has had problems of some sort to crop up that prevents them posting as much as they would like to.

Do you think that perhaps the dosage of Oxycotin may be a little too much. MypPM drs always said if grogginess was caused by a drug and it did not go away after a short period of time, then it was time to adjust the medication as it was too strong. You may want to call the dr about this.

      Stray, I did have my PCD drop my dose...but I feel that I can't or don't want to go any lower...as I hate to go back into the pain mode. I will stick around.....I just think I have given up on trying keep it together...as I know that the surgery is coming...and to me that seems like a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm tired...so tired and need some good deep rest. I have to take care not to get to lazy and just lay around all the time....I need to keep my muscle's in shape. The kitty is a real delight to have, and makes for good entertainment. I also feel like a total idiot...as I don't have near the problems many or you have. My sister came by today...not the one with back problems, but one from OK. She said I looked alright to here....and it didn't look like I was hurting....I just laughed and said "well that's what the pain meds do for you." I told her to stick around when they wear off and tell me that! Thanks for your concern Stray....and I was hoping the new member "NoClue" would tell you more about her pain pump experience....so that mybe you could give her some more advice on it. Michael, my sister has 5 cats, yes 5, thanks to her rotten daughter. She dumped 3 of her cats on my sis. She told my sister it was dump them on her or to the pound, which my sister would not hear of and my niece knew this. They are a lot of work for her really too much, but they do keep her company. She is disabled and not in good health. I wanted to pass this idea on to you, You know the cloth tunnels that you can buy for cats, well, my sis cannot afford those so she made her own. She bought the large round wood embroidery hoops and some fabric and hand sewed them together. The cats love it, they go nuts inside that thing.

Sorry about your sister not realizing your situation but thats not uncommon. Only ones that understand are the ones that live the life of CP. Everyone else is pretty much clueless.

Maybe eventually your meds will not zonk you so bad. Take care.

Don't feel bad for not keeping up with all the posts. I have been down in my reading and especially responding lately. You're also closing your business and I know firsthand that saps both physical and emotional energy. I have been packing stuff up all week, and won't have everything finished by tomorrow. My house is also a mess now with stacks of stuff! But one day at a time - it's all we can do. And sometimes we have to pay the price of the side effects to keep the pain manageable. Sad but true.

Glad your kitty is cheering you up! I'll try to get a look sometime tonight!

     Thanks my Lady...always love hearing from you....I was also very happy to see Stray reply too....I have lots of respect for her knowledge here on the froums...and I took a look at Chuts photo album while we were loading some of the Kitty photos....White Beard looks like such a nice man...I believe we saw Fatherjohn...and Pete too. What a swell bunch of members around here. I wish we could all meet for a weekend....just for some good laughs...or so....and the fellowship....and real hugs to everyone of them.....oh well!...maybe someday.

I think a lot of us dream about a group meet-up somewhere! We can dream can't we?!!

BTW the kitty is adorable!!!!!! The photos look like paintings, and he sure doesn't look like a kitty - looks more like grown cat, so I'm sure you will need to get him his own (rather large) bed soon!

A real sweetie, for sure!

As You have probably noticed I can't keep up with alll the threads and posts either and allot of them when I do post I am well down the list, as so many have post before me. I have a difficult time using my hands and typing is difficult for me, That is why on Thursday night chat I mostly just watch,I can't keep up! Just do your best, You know I originally started off on 10mg of Oxycontin every 12 hours then it was upped to 20 mg every 12 hours I was on that for many years at least 3 or4 I think then it was upped to 40 mg every 12 hours I have been on that for many years! It was just this summer that they changed it to 40mg every 8 hours, and that has helped my pain tremendously but I am more forgetful and I am slower, I guess it is a trade off!. Hang in there my friend, we are all in this CP thing together! We all care and look out for each other! But I do understand how you feel! You have really been a blessing to us here Michael so just keep doing what you can do! That is all any of us can do anyway isn't it?

My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
Please take care of yourself.
And dont stress about replying to people, you need to care care of yourself before worrying about others to much.
We know your heart is with us all, as we all share a common bond unfortunatly thats " Chronic Pain "
But i am greatful that i have found you all, and dont feel so alone
I have had the same comments in regards to Chronic Pain, Unless you bleeding to death with an arrow through your back, alot of people seem to think that we are all not experiencing CP.
I agree with Babycakes 100%.

Please take care and keep us posted when your feeling better.

Sorry to hear about your med fog but I guess alot of us get it. Just like my post about typing after taking our meds, they affect us in more ways than just typing. I also take oxycontin with oxycodone for bt pain, oh and don't forget the neurontin that really messes with the brain to mouth coordination. Hopefully after your surgery you can at least cut back on the pain meds.

So how long did the doc tell you your hospital stay would be? I stayed for 4 days after my lumbar fusion. Make sure they keep your bm under control. I hadn't went for the entire time and then on the last day they are flipping out about it and I ended up having an enema. Not a good thing when a fast run for the toilet is nearly impossible.

I noticed in the photo gallery that I am listed as becky so if you wanna see me that's what I'm listed as. If you get a chance put a picture of yourself on there along with your kitty.

    Thank you all so much for the "from the heart" replies...as I know they are....Who ever asked what kind of breed the cat is...it's a Rag Doll ...one of the most pouplar breeds in the US....no known health problems...strictly an indoor cat..as they are too trusting..and will get themselves into trouble with other cats and dogs as well. They shed very little...and the males can get up to 20 to 25lbs...very large for a cat. My Lady, he is 10weeks old...and I know he looks like a full grown cat...but he is just a baby right now. His name is Mieko...and sleeps right at the top of the bed with us in between the gap in the pillows...and has slept all night with no problems. We just love him to death!....and is a ball of fire when turned on wide open! :) He has killed two krickets so far and nothing gets past him...and boy can he jump...for being as little young as he is. Becky, I will look for your photo...and you can always join us on Facebook...there are several other members there as well. If your a member, just send an invite to [email protected]  My wife and I are both professional photographers...so we have the ability to make him look his best in the photos. We will post some photos of us on Chutz's site soon as we can....lots to do, this time of year. Take care to all of you...and again Thank you for your shoulders, and hearts of concern.

We actually own two photography business...we will keep one of them, and mine will be sold. So we will still be able to take some decent photos of the Kitty and of us in the future to share. Becky..I went to Chutz's photo page, and saw you there...now I can put a face withthe name....nice looking woman you are! :) I wish we could get everyone's photo's posted there! :)

    Hello Praying!....I really do care about all these very nice people here on the forum....wonderful members...and you know, they are probably some of the most down to earth I have met...nothing fake...no show boating....just wonderful careing human beings! ....my type of friends! :) If I could wave my hand like Moses...I would make them all well...and give them a wonderful quality of life they derserve. This is kinda like home away from home for me....I do wish we all could get together some day to meet!...that would be wonderful! I told my wife, that it would be fun to travel the country someday...and visit each and every one of them. ....a cup of coffee..good conversation...and a hug for each and every one.....! :)

Michael, did I read somewhere that you will be scheduled for surgery in Feb? Not sure what I read, lol. Why is your dr taking so long in getting you scheduled? Just wondering, forgot to ask earlier.

Well I guess those Pain pills are working that is the good news  making it hard to much else that is the bad news heh.  Well don't you worry about just worry about your health and new kitty kat.  I have 3 old cats.  My sister has 5 and 2 big dogs,  I also have a pom.

But I think it all started with our Auntie Doris when we were young she was a "Cat lady"

for sure.  Still has crazy cats all over her house.

I hope your upcoming surgery goes well and you heal fast!

Have a wonderful Holiday Season if I don't talk to you till then.

  Hello Stray...we are waiting the business deal to close and the such...it has mainly to do with finances...as I will be off work for quite some time. We are supposed to see the surgeon sometime this next week or so< if I can get in and have the time to do so....I'm working 24/7 here right now...as we have to keep shooting untill the business closes too.....also we will have to shoot for the new owner to get throught Basketball season, which we should be almost done by mid Feb.  It's not my Dr's fault...but it was at my own request...so that we can get everything squared away.

Man oh man I feel for you. The fog or the pain? Which is the worst evil...(the pain). I also take Oxycotin and have been on it so long that I think I may be over the fog so maybe there is light at the end of that darkness. I only take it when I need it so I haven't had any today but will take it in awhile because I have a busy afternoon ahead of me. I hurt, don't get me wrong, and the oxy numbs me a bit but never takes the pain completely away, but I can take Aleve and Tylenol and miss the fog so I do that when I need clarity. Granted it doesn't help as much but....I'm used to the pain I think.

I wish I could nod my head your direction and be there to help you out. I don't know what I'd do for you but I would definitely give it my best. Defogging....that's what I'd do. ha Take care my KS friend and don't worry about posting. I can't keep up either I try to answer the ones that I may have something to say on but some them I just don't know what I could say to make it better.

      Cathy....I feel just like you do...and often dont have any real advice to offer....but I want to so bad. We do need to answer anyway, even if it is just well wishes. It was wonderful to hear someone reply back even if they didnt have an answer for me......just to know that someone else cared and understood was enough at times. So keep trying, as you do more help than you think. Take care now!

    Cathy..I'm hoping we can maybe come and visit you over the Christmas Holiday...or maybe when I'm off for my surgery. Give me a grill up there and I will cook for you and your Hubby. We just got to do this! :)....I want to meet a real CP/HW person in the living flesh! :) ....now go away....and Scram!

Oh Honey, we do understand what you are saying...You need to take care of yourself and do NOT worry about us..This is what we are here for, to help others....  I speak for myself when I say that I have had Pain Meds mess me up too...to the point that I didn't want to talk to anyone or do anything...so don't you think teice about it...

Please take care and talk to your Dr. again...Something needs to be done....and you are strong...

I can totally understand your putting off the surgery until you are ready. You need to make sure you have all your eggs in one basket so that after the surgery you don't have to deal with alot of loose ends. I remember before mine it was spring and I worked like a banshee trying to get the flower beds cleaned out. Also, got the freezer stocked with food so I didn't have to worry about cooking other than the microwave for awhile. If you use a walker you may want to attach a bag of some sort on it for carrying stuff. At first I couldn't figure out how to carry my coffee with the walker but ended up using a travel mug placed in my bag and all was well. Gotta have that coffee....

Hi Michael:

I was thinking about how we all say how much we'd love to be able to meet one another - I think that there should be a yearly convention for HW, where they have different rooms for each illness or condition on this forum.  They could have informative lectures, for example, they could have doctors, or the moderators, or even some of us speak about the different issues we with CP deal with.

We would all stay in the same hotel of course, and all go to dinner together . . . . . Well, I can dream about it at least.  Who knows, maybe someday.  I think it would be a blast!
