Steroid Injections Today

Hi All

I have been complaining about my back/spine and leg/nerve pain here recently.  Well received a call yesterday and went in this morning for my procedure.

I had bilateral fluoroscopic steroid injections in the L5 area.  It was a bit painful to say the least.  But if I can attain some relief it is well worth a little pain.  I guess it takes up to 48-72 hours for the medicine to work so will know then.

I am hoping for a great deal but I do remember having a similiar series of three back in late 2007 but it was not bilateral and it helped some maybe 20 % or so for a period of time.

Just keeping you all up to date on my med care and made me think of all you and I am sure you have had worse back or pain issues but it is all relevent.

How are you doing BTW?  I knew the other day you were having some problems.

Yes I am hoping this will bring some relief to my legs, feet etc.  It is not always the sciatic pain running down one or the other leg.  Like this weekend for 2 days straight I can tell the exact minute it started but my feet were pins and needles for at least 48 hours.  That was tough.

Other times my feet are numb and tingling like they are not mine.  Like when you leave the dentist ya know.  But sciatica too.  Sick of it for sure,

Still on the no bending twisting turning lifting over 10 lbs thing so that is difficult but NO more damage I guess is the key for that one.

Yes I go back to the Doc Dec 17 I think for my F/u about my meds and we will probably discuss the injections and results.  I will take it again if I need to or would benefit from them.

Say hi to kitty for me what is it's name btw?  We have a Tigger Butt, Sweetie Pie and Mr Kitty and MY poms name is Dunnigan  Dunni Bunni or Honey Bunni or Treat LOL all get his attention.  Dunni Bunni is quite the spoiled one.  FYI Tigger Butt pees into the toilet  does not flush though :)

I have a lot of similar symptoms that you're describing but unfortunatley the injections never helped me. But I'm hoping you get a different outcome! One that that was worthwhile was putting ice on the site of the injection for the first day or so. That helps a bit with the soreness. I never had sedation for any of my injections and never found them a problem. I think a lot depends on the skill of the doctor doing them, though.

Thanks PAlady and Chart I hope it works well. Time will tell. I am iceing right now. I was supposed to stop by CVS and pick up a high dosage of Ativan as stated by Dr's scheduler but because they moved from aft to 10 am did not have time to stop. I took a couple of my zanax instead and helped me calm down. I also suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. I also hate enclosed spaces so bad.
But home now, relaxing in my hubbys big ole lazy boy and chilling literally (iceing) LOL.

I am not sure. When I was being seen for it last basically all of 2007 and into Mar of 08 tried evrything including fluorscopic steroid injections last one of three was 1/08. Sent to a good neurosurgeon everyone thought he was best anyway. He did another MRI showed Severe DDD of lwr back here I will type from report

Basically the MRI scan revealed rather dramatic narrowing of the L5-S1 disk space with dramatic loss of disk space height at L5-S1 and a small paracentral disk herniation at L5-S1.

MRI of lumbar and cervical spine that revealed degenerative changes at L3-4, L4-5 and L5-S1
as well as mild to moderate degenerative spondylosis and MRI her lumbar and cervical spine were both remarkable for mild to moderate degenerative disease.

Last Friday newest Xrays showed a large mass of arthritis in lumbar area as well. I also have sciatica, numbness, tingling, pin and needles in both legs mostly right leg.
Also major pain in lower back, upper back and hip area. Sometimes feet are so numb don't even feel they are mine.

Well anyway back in Mar 08 when I was seen by Neurosurgeon he stated wait it out for a year or so you pain should subside and we do not want to open a can of worms.
Well now it is over a year pain is still there, things look to be worsening and have a new pain back pain specialist. He prescribed me percocets for bt pain. Doc just did the injection procedure. He suggested we will see how that goes and we can discuss surgery for back if still in pain and some treatments for osterarthritis. So that is it in a nutshell Michael. Hope u can understand it all.
On top of all that I am in and have been in a fibro flare for 3 months possibly due to increased back/leg pain or viceversa hard to say.
