I think that this is okay to post, but mods, correct me if I am wrong.
I've told some of you about
this already, but I thought others might be interested in this, as I know that some of you have major eye problems too/ know someone who does. The other week my ophthalmologist told me about
this organization -- Lighthouse International -- that created
FREE software called "LowBrowse" for the bind and visually disabled that will
enlarge the font and read aloud the text on any webpage. All you need is the Mozilla Firefox browser, which is also free.
I can say first hand that the program is fantastic. It isn't perfect, but I find it very helpful. I have a bunch of gadgets that enlarge and read text to me, but they are mostly for hard-copy print. The internet is always tough for me to read, even when I enlarge the font, so this program is like gold. For those interested, the program works on both macs and pc's.
