Newbie to the group....

Hello! I am SO thankful I have found a support group who can emphatize with how I feel. I have suffered with chronic pain for 8 years now and up to this point I have kept to myself and prayed for a miracle. When I found your grouop via a web search, I knew I had found a HOME! After spending hours and hours reading every single post - I had to join. I read so many stories similar to mine and realized there are people out there who know how I feel, 24/7. I look forward to chatting with all of you and I am forever thankful for such a great support group!

Medical Background: Celiac disease left untreated, causing multiple level disk which led to fusions at levels L4, L5, S1, C7, & C8. Four failed fusions led to years of pain, high blood pressure, insomnia, depression, just to name a few ailments. I currently have a bone growth stimulator implanted cervically and am about to have neurostimulation therapy implanted to help the lumbar/leg pain. I also have cardiomyopathy and am on SS Disability long-term.

If anyone has experience with the neurostimulation therapy, I welcome your input and look forward to "talking" to you all! Thanks for reading!

Welcome to HW. I'm sorry that you have to join us because of pain, but I'm glad that you found us. You're absolutely right, this place is like a home and the members family to so many of us. This is the one place where CP patients can come where people truly understand! This is a fantastic support group.

As for neurostimulation. There are several members here with nerve stimulators. I'm actually in the process of battling my insurance company to be approved for one, myself. They were so kind to deny insurance coverage the day before I was supposed to have to trial done back in December, so now I'm fighting them with everything I've got. My pain issues are different from yours, though. I have chronic eye and facial pain from a bad trauma & so the stimulator would be a little different, but it works the same way. Good luck with your stimulator trial, I hope it is successful!

I want to add my welcome to the chronic pain forum of Healing Well. This is the best support group on the internet, IMHO, and it's been a godsend for me and many others here. I'm glad you found us.

I'm assuming by your post you mean a neurostimulator implant, and like Skeye said several of our members do have them. Plus there's a lot of information on older threads, so if you search the site you should find some of them.

It's good to familiarize yourself with the site a little because there's lots to offer here. The CP101 thread has great info. and resources, and reading the forum rules helps all of us to stay coloring within the lines, so to speak, which is what keeps this site so great.

And welcome to the family. We too are thrilled that you have joined us. As you said, it's wonderful to have others to talk to who truly understand what living with pain is all about.

As mentioned above, we have several members who not only have implanted stimulators but they are quite knowledgeable. I'm sure they'll be along soon. In the mean time make yourself comfortable because we're in this family for the long haul. We do care about each other!

What a wonderful, kind greeting! I already feel right at home here. I was able to find the most amazing information on Neurostimulation Therapy including a blog w/pics which answered 99% of my questions. At this point, I feel ready for the "trial" implantation and am looking forward to some pain relief (God willing). I look forward to getting to know everyone better and thanks again to all of you!

I too want to welcome you to Healing Well's chronic pain forum. Well, I guess you know by now that you are not alone dealing with this miserable mess called CP. There is a whole bunch of out there that deal with it day in and day out, or at least we try to deal with it.

 

Wow, what a story you have to tell. You have really been put through the ringer several times. You know each and every one of us have a story of some kind that led us to this forum. I think you will find this to be the best group of people on the net. We try to help each other out the best we can, whether is it offering up ideas or just listening. At least you know now there is a good warm place to come to and be able to talk to someone that really knows about CP.

 

There are several people here at the forum that has the SCS implants. If you will do a search here at the forum you should be able to pull up a lot of posts on this subject. It most likely will be a quicker way to get some info because it can be a hit or miss on the people with them getting back to you quickly.

 

Anyway, I wanted to say hi and welcome aboard. Keep us posted on how you are coming along.
