I dunno if this is really the right place to be putting this thread, I hope so, I also hope someone can put my mind at ease.
I've been in chronic pain for over ten months now, I've just turned seventeen and I'm finally getting tests done
I have just finished taking an osmotic laxative known as moviprep over two days (two boxes of it) with no food for forty eight hours. I've had no issue keeping it down and it's been working fine but I'm really frightened what will happen tomorrow.

Due to the nature of my yet undiagnosed condition I've managed to work up a serious fear of incontinence and though I hate to admit it I've become a little agoraphobic. I've read that the prep can keep working until the next morning, started at 12am today and it's now 2am. I don't want to sleep encase the next morning the prep isn't finished. I'm also terrified of the effects afterwards as I've heard that they pump air into the area which can cause flatulence which makes me worry for any unwanted excrement.

I know it's sounds silly and is a bit gross but I'm really scared and don't know what to expect, I just want to be prepared.

I know I'm probably not very clear but if there's any information you can give me on what to expect or even prepare for I'd really appreciate it

I'm sorry you are so uncomfortable about your procedure, but I have never had one done and I can't give any additional information.

I do wish you well and I'm sure you are in capable hands.

Please be assured that the people doing your procedure are very familiar with what they are doing and have seen every kind of reaction. They will help you through the process, without judgment or unnecessary embarassment.

You poor thing!! YOu will be OK. They will give you an intravenous and a sedative for the test so you won't know what is going on. You are worrying for nothing regarding the test. Someone needs to drive you home obviously at the end of test. You will be recovered in a small room with nurses following the test and they will let you go home when you are able to walk and have recovered from the sedative which makes you sleepy!!! You can start to eat after the test and your bowels will start to move more regularly. Keep us posted on the results of your test. Do you have a good support system, ie. family or friends to help you the day of the test?

I have had this test and the prep you are doing now is the worst of it. they put everyone to sleep for this. It is painless . You will not be in pain when you wake up. After the test my friends picked me up and we went to IHOP for a BIG breakfast. That's how easy it is.

I just had one last year and I agree with Keep the Faith that the prep was the worst of it! If you're worried about any "leakage" overnight you could put a towel under you when you're sleeping, but they'll take care of everything else where you have the test. They do this over and over and over again. I was awake during my procedure but in lala land! I kept giggling and watching the monitor and mumbling various questions, but I didn't feel any pain at all. Most people go to sleep.

The worst is tonight!

I've had at least 8 colonoscopies. The prep is the worst part. The docs and nurses have seen everything, so don't be embarrassed about any leakage. You'll probably be put in a curtained off area after the procedure. You'll have a pad under you for any leakage so don't worry about that. You will be gassy and they will tell you to fart. This is not the time to be modest. You may hear others around you farting. Do not hold it in or you will end up with pain from the gas.
