Hi Ric,
Sorry, don't mean to laugh but the 12 prunes was overkill, lol, since it landed you on the throne for so long. All I will say is welcome to my world, lol. Maybe popping 3 or so a day in your mouth will help keep things moving along in a more natural manner. I always try to make sure my bathroom is done in my favorite colors and all since I spend so much time there. I have tried every OTC going down the pike for my situation all to no avail. Instead, I do have a script of stuff that I take. Some days it works and some days it doesn't. It s a real crap shoot, so to speak, no pun intended, lol. Crohns disease has a mind of its own for sure.
I still think its terrific that you now have pain relief that allows you to be able to carry out some activities. Lets hope this dosage works for you for a very long time. If you get a moment one day Google chronic pain and you can find where they actually did the studies that proved CP patients rarely ever get addicted to their meds. Like I said before addiction and tolerance are two different animals. Because narcotics have received such a bad hype over the war on drugs this very thing has created such a problem for people requiring them in order to have some quality life. In fact our very own drs particularly our PCP;s have a bad habit of saying "oh we have to be careful and not have you on these long or you will become addicted to them". Thats just plain old ignorance on the drs part, not having a good understanding of pain medication. That why most of them will not rx them for more than 10 days.
I am working on keeping my pain at bay with my BT meds in finding a dose that does not make me drowsy during the day, I may have it figured out. Sleep is a big problem for me, I only sleep in 2 hour increments then I am right back up. So, I stay so tired all the time. I am not a day time sleeper either, never been good at that. I can't just lay in a bed waiting to fall asleep. When I go to bed you know that I am sick. That is why I tell anyone suffering with CP to stay up mobil as much as they can. I spent a year in bed because of sickness and CP and that year nearly destroyed me. Resting is one thing but laying in a bed is not good, we lose so much strength, loss muscle, stamina, many times muscles can become atrophied and its just not good. After that year in bed I understood fully why drs say if a person injured say their back or whatever no bedrest, when back in the old days it was bedrest. They learned that laying in a bed for a week caused more problems. There are many ways for people to stay moving around, sometimes we have to get real creative.
My daughter's brother-in-law moved to SF for about 18 months. His girlfriend was attending school out there. He was quite shocked at the cost of living out there. She had a small two bedroom apt that rented for $2,500 a month-that blew him away. He was not impressed, mostly home sick. It was his first time away from home and he missed family terribly. My daughter & her hubby spent a lot of time out there those 18 months and my daughter loved it. I have never been there but would love to come visit that part of the country. I think it would be cool to hop a trolley or a street car and ride around. I did it once while visiting in Nashville, Tn.
For sore muscles from over doing it I use a balm called "Tiger Balm". When I was having massage therapy the therapist would always rub my neck, shoulders & back down with it and then put hot packs on me. Oh, I thought I had died & gone to heaven. So, now when I start doing some of the yardwork I always use it at night because I know I am going to be very sore. Here you can get it in some grocery stores, WalMart and of course drug stores. If I didn't use it, then I would not be able to do any yardwork.
I had a great weekend, lots going on just exhausted from it all. I had the tornado all day Friday and he put me thru my paces, lol. I had him today for a few hours but had mom come get him after she finished her grocery shopping. I had a few things to do and did not feel up to dragging him around with me, although he would have been good.
