Hi just wanted to know how your recovery was going? I hope you are feeling better and the pain is subsiding somewhat for you. Your recovery time is going to be longer than mine, I can't believe that you were in surgery for almost seven hours. Does the Dr. think that the surgery will be successful?
Sounds like you went thru so much, but I am sure that you don't even remember most of it from the drugs. Just wanted to let you know that I have been thinking about you and I hope you are doing well.
I am sure that you are glad that surgery is over and you can focus on recovering. I for one can not wait till I can start physical therapy!

Hey Mikie, Wasup?? I was wondering hou you be too! I haven't had much time to post lately but I have been scanning the posts looking for some news on you. Sure hope yer feelin better than last time we heard from you! Say, seven hours? You broke my record of six and a half for my fusion. Sounds like you came out of it w/ similar pain as I did. Of course that doesn't mean squat on how your final outcome will be though.
Hang tough and take it E~Z!!!!!! or I'll come out there to the land of the lollypop guild or where ever you live and knuckle you in the foot!

You know, just when I'm beginning to heal, some big ole boy writes something here to make me laugh so hard, I have to start the process again! :) Gee Petey Boy! :)
OK, here is the best I can do for you all on information on me. The surgery was a rough one, and I will never forget it. They simply could not control my pain, and I almost OD as they tried to control it.

I'm now sporting a new tummy scar big enough to hide a Kangaroo in. So far, I have had some decent days, and yesterday I thought I was a new man again, but today I took two steps back. This evening, I'm doing OK. I simply have a long way to go, and the healing process takes time. I'm walking quite a bit these days, and my meds have been reduced to only Percocet's, the Oxycontin's are now over with.

Thank you to all of you that are asking about me. I need a couple of more weeks, before I'm ready to start chatting on line here again, as I'm very tired, and have a lot of healing to do. Please don't take offense to this, I just need some extra time to feel better.

Hello Jag! Yes, that first shower is nice, but I was worried about the scar getting wet and me falling in the tub. I'm still pretty tender in the gut area. That darn surgeon took the Whipper Snapper out of me! :)

Lorie, you have been there, I can tell. Looks like we are in the same club now. Your post here to me is touching to say the least, and to the rest of you, I can never Thank you enough for your concerns. This has truly been a terrible struggle to go through, and my advice to anyone thinking about this kind of surgery, is to put it off as a last resort. However, that being said, I do not recommend the pain med route either, especially if you are still in the work force.

The first thing I did when I got home was to remove myself off the Oxycontin. I have reduced my Percocet intake to 4-#10 325mg a day, and now today have reduced it further to 3 a day now. My goal is to get completely off of them if I can. Two days ago, I had a great day, and yesterday was horrible, but today, has been wonderful.

I really feared the evenings, and it was always the roughest time for me, but last night was so much better for me. Let me also say, it is a good thing to have a support system for this kind of thing. I'm going to say that I have a wonderful wife, of which I'm madly in love with. Truly! Also, one of our members here on line has been wonderful support as well. She was a voice that I could connect with, and that really helped me. I want every one to listen to what I'm about to say...and that is that I firmly believe in the buddy system, even here on Healing Well. If you can find someone to trust here, and can make contact with them, it really makes a big difference. Thank you to Tmjpain, and my special buddy from right here in KS, Privey.

For those of you that have that big of a mistrust, not to be able to do this, I feel sorry for you, but I understand that there may be good reason for it.

SE sure hope your getting a little bit better each day, sounds like your surgery was very rough and I hope the pain levels are gettting better for you.
I'm sure you have a lot to tell us about your surgery, but it's way to early for that yet so please take it easy and follow your doctor's orders to the tee..
or me and pete will come for you...so get better and know we are thinking of you...Lots of soft healing hugz being sent your way...

Thank you Chartreux! I can always count on you to cheer me on too! You have become a good friend and supporter. I am doing exactly what the Dr has ordered, and my first appointment with him is this next Tue. I truly Thank each and everyone of you for your support. Wonderful friends here! Today has been better than yesterday, but again this will be a very long healing process, and I will have to be patient for quite some time. Chartreux, I'm so glad to see that you are feeling better these days, as I was so worried for you.

Also, I wanted the experts here to know that I'm walking about 8 to 9 football fields a day. Does that sound like too much or about right?

One more thing! I'm getting the feeling that many of you think that I'm up at a desk typing away here on HW. Not to worry, before I went in for surgery, my wife and I set up the computer system to swing over our bed, and the keyboard is wireless as is the mouse. I'm simply sitting or laying here in bed and posting when I feel up to it.

So glad to hear that each day is getting better for you!

I say with your walking...that if you aren't in a lot of pain or too sore during/afterwards...then it should be ok to do as much as you feel like since it's the best form of exercise you can get being low impact:)

I type with one of those breakfast tables set up on my bed with laptop to make it easy on my neck too...so can just picture lots of us in our PJ's while we type!! LOL got my pink fluffy socks on now:)
