I'm so miserable right now.  My left hip and back are hurting so badsad   I've tried everything that I know to do.  I can't wait till tomorrow.  I'm going to start calling drs. after I get up in the morning.  Please say prayers for me that I find a new PM dr. real soon.  I'm going to call and make an appointment with my PCP for as soon as I can get it.  I can't take this much longer.  I hope she will help me with this. :(   I'm having a hard time not thinking about that jerk of a dr. that pushed me out the door.  I was so hoping that I had found a good dr, but no. :(

I have clinical depression, and I'm afraid it's starting to rear it's ugly head too.  I really don't know what I'm going to do.

turn Loretta, I am so sorry you are feeling so bad! Thank God I have been taking Savella and Gabapentin and for 2 weeks my pain level has gone from 7-8 to 3-4! I have RSD. It's like fibro except RSD is mostly in the arms and legs. What are you taking? The PM dr I saw for 5 months just rxd Lyrica and later added Ambien. I started goint to an internist and am sooo glad I changed. He also added Amitriptyline at bedtime. I do hope you get some relief soon! Donna blush yeah

Loretta, I wish I could do something to help you! I know what it's like to be in such pain you literally can't take it anymore! I assume that you've already taken all of the pain meds you can take right now. One thing that sometimes seems to help me is to soak in a hot tub of water, or to get a sock full of rice warm in the microwave and apply it to the painful area.....you probably already know this of course but sometimes when you're in pain you just can't think straight so I thought I'd mention it just in case....?

Hopefully some more knowledgeable members will give better advice! I just wanted you to know that I hear you and you're in my thoughts tonight!

I will be praying for you and that your doctor will be able to come up with something to help you!

Loretta , Please try to calm yourself , you'll' get thru this but you don't have to do it alone , you are cared about . when you feel overwhelmed please reach out here and talk about what your feeling , as you have done , please continue this and maybe start a journal if you haven't already .Do you see a therapist for your depression ? Have you tried meditation , keeping yourself occupied helps too , reading , painting , there are hot lines you can call just to talk to someone too , they will lend a sympathetic ear for 10 or 15 mins just to get you thru your anxiety .Sometimes it really helps just to hear a sympathetic voice .I hope you feel better soon . I'm sorry to hear that you are hurting so much. It's hard when you hurt so much and feel so helpless, therefore depression & chronic pain commonly go hand-in-hand. I myself struggle with major depression stemming from my chronic pain. I think you'll find that many (if not most) of us do.

Have you been seeing a psychologist and/or a psychiatrist? I think that a psychologist, at the very least, is an important part of a chronic pain patient's health care team because depression can often make pain worse (and vice versa as well). I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but there are psychologists out there who specialize in treating patients with chronic pain. These pain psychologists can help teach you special techniques, like biofeedback, which are designed to help you cope with the emotional and physical components of chronic pain. You might think about seeing a pain psychologist if you haven't already. Your pain management doctor should be able to help you find one.

I hope you get a good night's rest & feel better in the morning!

9yes, I can tell that your hurting, and yes, I hope you can find a PM Dr very soon.Are you seeing a PCD at this time, and if so will they recommend a PM for you?

I feel so very bad when someone cries out in pain like this. I have another friend here on the forum, that suffers something horrible on a daily bases, and it is terrible to know that members are going through this.

I will pray for you my friend!

I don't have much to add except to offer support and say I know what it feels like to be struggling to find a decent PM. It's so unfair that it takes us so very long to find the doctors we need (and some never do find them).

Skeye raised some good points, though. I know I'm on an anti-depressant and would be a mess without it. No, it doesn't fix everything, but at least I'm not leaving my cousin long, tearful voice mails anymore!

I do hope your PCP will help you until you can find a good PM.

I also hope that you find a new PM that can really help you. Our PM doctors can really make a big difference in our lives.

Thank you so much for all your support.  I do take an antidepreesant Cymbalta.  I feel a little better today.  I did get an appointment with my PCP this Wednesday at 4pm.  I sure hope that she will help me with this horrible pain until I can find a PM dr.  I sure do appreciate you all replying to my plead.  It does help to know that you all know what I'm going thru, although I wish no one had to know what chronic pain feels like.  You all are a great group of people, and I am truly blessed to have you all as my new family.  You all take care.  I hope you all have a lpd.

Glad to hear that you feel better today. Let me introduce myself, I am Rhonda and I live in Mt. Juliet, Tn...I have been a CPer for well over 10 years now....actually more like 20 I guess. But I've only been seeing a Pain Dr. for 6. Didn't know they existed until then...I have been through the gambit of Dr.'s and pills. We have a lot in common....I have DDD, DJD, Spinal Stenosis (had fusion 5 years ago that didn't work, and a regular Lamenectomy in 99). I also have Type 2 Diabetes that was DX'ed last year...it's still not under control. I also have HBP, Depression.....so we are Twins....ha ha

I think the Depression goes hand in hand with CP....especially with other medical issues. How well is your Diabetes managed?

Thank you for the welcome Rhonda.  It's nice to meet you.  My family lives close to you in Hendersonville, Tn near Nashville.  It does look like we are twins. :)  My diabetes isn't well controlled either.  I was just kicked out of my endocrinologist office for missing three appointments without calling ahead of time to cancel, therefor I had to make an appointment with another one, which is in May.  The one i was seeing wouldn't change anything even though i sent her my blood sugar numbers thru the mail.  She said that they were stable and she wasn't changing anything, so I guess it was a blessing in disguise.  Again thanks for the welcome.

I hear you and know from where you are coming. I am on year number 10 of this pain and still looking for some kind of relief. Have found doctor number 14 and trying something new. Physical therapy and trigger point injections for post therpatic and trigeminal/supraorbitaol neuralgia. Everything hurts worse when I get home from PT but I just keep going hoping that maybe one day it will kick in and something will work. Thats the only advice I can give to you. Keep going, keep looking. There has to be a doctor out there for you. There has to be pain relief for us all. I would be happy with just one day of pain of a scale of 5 out of 10 rather than the constant 9 out of 10 that has become my life. I hope for you a day of 1 out of 10. Healing thoughts to you.

Thank you catahoula.  I wish for you a low pain day also.  It wears us down to be in so much pain.  My PCP suggested physical therapy and gave me some places to call.  Well, I misplaced the paper, so if i don't forget, i will be asking her for that paper again tomorrow when i go in for my appointment.  I sure hope she can help me.

I too am from the Nashville area. I graduated from Mt. Juliet High School and both my sister and her husband are drs. in Hendersonville so, I’m there quite often. I’m actually in Brentwood so; I’m on the other end of Nashville from you both. Loretta, you don’t have a pm dr at this point? Is that correct? The dr kicked you out? It sounds way too much like the average PM here in Tennessee. To find a “good” pm doctor is almost impossible. And Rhonda, do you have a pm dr? If so, is he/she good about dealing with your pain? I see a PM dr. in Antioch and it feels terrible going in there, but I am finding that getting a pm dr anywhere is very difficult! I am wondering if we are in a state that is very anti-pain management. I would love to hear about both of your relationships with pm and if either of you have heard of a good pm dr. here in Nashville or anywhere around.
