As you all know I have been having some pretty horrible problems.  The pain over the last 6 days took a huge toll on me and I am not only physically exhausted but, emotionally as well.  This morning was the last straw!  I woke several times during the night and only got about 4 hours of sleep.  So at 8 am this morning I picked up my phone and called the doctor.  I Begged her to give me back my pain medications....I cried over the phone and then hung up and waited.

At 10am this morning the nurse called telling me that yes I could take my oxycodone!!! YAY!!!!!  I'm back to 3 times a day as it has been since we began the new BT medication and I am sooooooo happy that I get to take them!  I hated not having something for the BT pain and all weekend my pain was out of control.  My activities that were at a good level were split in half because I just couldn't handle the pain.

So now I am playing catch up.  But I know that soon it will be gone!  Hugs to all my dear friends that helped me through this horrible time.  You all are a true blessing!

Glad you got your oxy back. I am waiting for the surgeon call me back as we speak.

Hi scrarredforlife,

I'm new here so don't get scared lol.

However, I'm not new to pain meds and it so happens that I'm on oxycodone too for the pain around the clock and for b/t as well. I never had too much problem for my pain but since my doctor has always been reluctant to prescribe them to me (everytime I see her she makes comments about it)  I know exactly how you feel. I think the day this will happen to me, I would not hesitate at all to grab the phone and beg for them.

You did what you had to do and you got what you needed. I still think it's a pity you had to come to this though. No one should have to cry to see their pain relieved.

You seem to be a "habituée" (??) here...meaning you've been on here for a while. I hope we can get to know each other better. What is your condition, is it the back like me?

I'm so glad to hear that you got your break thru meds back.  Sometimes it takes crying to get people's attention.

Hey Scarred,

So glad to hear that the silly 'experiment' is over...that was such a strange and needless thing for them to do...Maybe one day you can talk it over with him on why the sudden change and what was the real reasoning behind that..

I am truly wondering if there is more to this Psychologists notes that made your Dr. nervous about prescribing medicine..so hope you can get your hands on all of that information...

Hope you can get some rest tonight:)

     Thou I am terribly sorry your weekend was so horrible... I sure am relieved to hear you were able to finally get some help. *hugg* You ve been through alot so try to rest when you can, give your self a chance to recovery. You are in our hearts.

Good Evening Scarred! I, like so many others here, are so glad to hear that you can resume your pain management now. I don't know the whole story on this, but I can clearly see when someone is suffering needlessly.
Hurray for you my friend! Enjoy the relief! You have certainly needed it! :)

Hello Everyone! I am so happy that I got lots of posts to mine. If I don't make sense its because my meds are kicking in and its about time for bed. Anyway, Frenchie: It is a pleasure to meet you! Yes I hurt my back 10 years ago. I had a laminectomy to take care of the buldging disc on S1-L4 and hoped that it woudl be all I needed. But......I was totally wrong! The buldging discs came back 3 months later and I was forced into surgery once more as they fuse my S1-L4. Then two years later I began to feel pain above the L4 area. and come to find out L3-L4 decided to buldge and I ended up once again going through surgery.

Well, to make a long story short......The fusion did not take and I ended up having to be re-fused. All together over the 4 years I was in surgery off and on.....I got two years of relief! Anyway, I now face DDD, CP, FBS and nerve damage.

That's great news! I agree with Snowbunny, though, and like her terming this an "experiment." I hope once you get balanced again with your meds you get your doctor's records - psych. and PCP, and see what exactly is in there. I also hope they're making good notes in your chart about the problems you had without your BT pain.

I hope you can relax tonight, and that you are indeed in dreamland as I write this!

Good Morning everyone;

I want to thank each of you for your replies and oh so warm wishes. The responses really lifted my heart. Unfortunetally I did not sleep well last night. I think it was because I am in more pain then I have been in the past year and that my meds jsut needed some time to catch up with me. Anyway for whatever reason it was, I didn't sleep well at all. I crawled in bed with hubby last night and though I adore our bed, I haven't slept next to him in over a year now and I think (very sadly) that I have accustom myself to sleeping alone in my misery in more then just mentally.

I either sleep in the spare bedroom, where I can toss and turn all I want without worrying about waking my hubby, who by all means needs his sleep since he is the bread winner around our home; or I sleep in my recliner. So I was up at 1:30am and I guess I fell back to sleep about two hours later in my recliner because I was woken by hubby at 6am when he let the dogs out and headed downstairs to get ready for work.

Now......my pain is down to a 7 and I'm feeling pretty tired LOL I wonder why?? hehehe

Hi Scarred,

I'm so glad to hear that your doctor put you back on your BT meds & you are feeling a little better. I know it wasn't a pleasant experience for you, but something positive did come out of it. Now you know for sure that your BT are making a difference & that they are necessary.

Hopefully you get some sleep tonight. I know all too well what it is like to not sleep because of your pain. Last night I was up until 5 am. It's no fun for sure!

Good afternoon Scarred! I certainly hope you finally got some rest. Pain and no sleep is the worst! :(
My wife and I bought a Split King (Tempur-Pedic) and we seperated the beds into two twins since I have been home from the surgery.

They are the motorized ones, and of course we like different settings between the two of us.
We split them up, since I like to role to the left to get out of bed, and makes it so much easier for me to do so, especially during the night, when my bladder starts a knocking like crybaby!

I do miss having the beds together so we can cuddle up for a good movie though, and I think I will move them together tonight, as I miss my baby! :)
I can relate missing your spouse throughout the night, and at the same time understand your gesture of not wanting to bother him as well.

Maybe you can take advantage of a weekend when he doesn't have to go to work, and take a nap with him.
There is nothing better than laying down with your spouse for some quite time :)

Hi Scared,

I'm very happy your Dr was able to see the need and willing to help. It certainly does take a while for the meds to catch up and releive the pain. Perhaps tonight will be a better rest.

I also understand about not sleeping with the husband and having stress associated with it. I do sleep in the same bed most nights now (but not this week :(

When I do sleep in the bed, however, I have to put pillows between us and I feel so separated from him. The back and the fibro make it so painful for him to put an arm around me or even accidentally touch me when he sleeps (and he is a deep sleeper). I really miss the snuggling. I think it makes life much harder when you don't have that time.

I really hope you find a relaxation point tonight an get some rest. You deserve it!

Hey all! Sorry I haven't responded in awhile. Been very busy getting the house cleaned up and ready for company. My husband's best friend from Wyoming is coming down to hunt turkeys and hubby and I were trying to get the house cleaned up. Things here have been a bit strange. My meds are working great and I haven't heard from WC yet, so we hope that will happen soon so I can get on with life. Anyway, I have an appointment on Monday for Blood work for the diabetes and the liver function testing. Then a dr appt on Wed with my reg doctor to see where we are on both the liver function and the diabetes. Hoping my A1C and my liver and kidney tests are lower then they were.

Not much else going on....OH we had our first Tornado Watch alert Night before last!! Was very exciting NOT!

Great to hear the meds are back working again. I hope your test results show improvement. You'll have to let us know later this week.

And watch out for those tornadoes! I've been watching the news - yikes! We're supposed to get some storms tomorrow, but mostly heavy rain.
