Hi Everyone

Thank you for a warm welcome Screaming Eagle and Blue Jet2. I have posted once before I believe other than the morning roll call. Anyway just to give you a little background imfo. I suffer from chronic back pain. I had a spinal fusion about 4 years ago hoping that it would solve a condition that was very painful at times and had become more and more frequent. So after discussing it with a neruosurgeon , I deciding to have the fusion done. For the first 3 months things where pretty good and was off pain meds altogether, but it was short lived. I deveolped sharp pains and when I went back to the orthopedic surgeon who had done the surgery along with the nerosurgeon. he insisted that what he had done was fine and made it clear he didn't want to see me again. In the meantime the nerosurgeon had packed up and moved to the US . So long story short I had no one willing to help. Since than I've been to many pain clinics and tried many different treatments which none have helped much or not at all. I'm presently on a very high dosage of pain meds which at least allows me some quality of life. So the battle continues from day to day. I still consider myself blessed that I can still walk and that things aren't worse because you don't need to look to far to find people who are worse off. I have also had 10 other surgeries on other parts of my body over the years that adds to the discomfort. I'm 46, married and have 2 kids , both girls ages 9 and 13and I'm from Ontario Canada. I think that pretty much covers it. Thanks again for the welcome.

Welcome! Wow. You have been through a lot. I feel blessed too. You're right. You don't have to look far to find someone that is having a harder time. I've been trying lately to be more thankful for what I do have. It's hard though sometimes...

Okay. Well, I have to go to work.

Welcome to our family Stingray! I'm sorry to see another person join our CP forum but then we have added a new friend to our group!

There are alot of us here who have had successful fusion surgeries in the eyes of the Surgeons!  You would think after seeing patients in follow up complain of pain they would finally get that fusions do cause chronic ongoing severe pain!!

I'm Frenchie and we live right next to each other; I'm from Montreal. Incidentally, myproblems stem from the back as well so I can relate. TMJpain too is from Ontario (Ottawa).

You said you went to many pain clinics. Been there done that. Except I think it's worse here in Quebec, as in getting in a pain clinic. The only one available here is at the General Hospital downtown and is run by a fascist arrogant doctor whose name I will keep a secret. Since I said I wanted a second opinion (I felt he could have done more for me), he kicked me out. Bad memories. I guess that what you get when you don't pay them directly....(Screamingeagle stop smirking lol)

I started to go to private places now and in the process, going through all my savings but I have no choices really.

I have kids about the same age as yours. Mine are 11 and 15. It's very hard on them. Are you a dad or a mom?

I also wanted to welcome you to the CP forum. I've had a so-called "successful" double lumbar fusion about 2 1/2 years ago that didn't help any of my pain symptoms at all. I do wish the surgeons would start to redefine what "successful" means, but that's going to knock down their statistics so they likely don't want to do it.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello, and hey, I'm in the U.S. but I can see Canada from my house! :-) (well, kinda! LOL)

Hi Stingray and welcome aboard. I had a fusion at the L5-S1 about a year ago and it was also "considered" a success. Obviously I'm still in pain, or I wouldn't be here, so I consider it only a "partial" success. I also see so many people that are worse off that I am blessed by how well I actually am.
Sorry, but I can't see Canada from here since I'm in the deep South, but I do see some of your geese flying by quite a bit.

Welcome to the forum Stingray. I'm glad you found us, although I'm sorry you have reason to be here. I can sympathize as I have back problems also. There are a bunch of wonderful, supportive people here. We're a family here as you probably can tell. It's good to meet you.

I also want to extend my Welcome to You to the Healing Well Chronic Pain Forum. It sounds like you have had some difficult times with you back. Well you are in good company here, of course not everyone here as pain because of their back, but a good portion of us do! Anyway we are not Doctors so we sure can't heal you, but we can lend you our ears and listen to you, and we a can share with you what advice that we have, and we definitely can empathize with you and give you our compassionate caring support!

So again I Welcome you to our CP family!

Stingray, we haven't seen you here for a while. I just saw you post on another thread. I was just wondering where you are in Ontario as i am in Ottawa.

How have you been doing with your pain levels? Have you been getting along ok?

Hope you can stop by and post again real soon.
