    Dear Friends and Family,

 

     It is another beautiful Monday Morning. Though I would love nothing more than to crawl back into bed with my hot coffee and a good book.....  It is the start of the week and there are many tasks that need to be done. Appointments to keep & Jobs to finish.

 

     Alot of times we are so busy giving support to one another that we forget to update about ourselves. So, before we get too wrapped up in starting the new week.. I want to know how we are all doing. What do you have planned? And more importantly, how is your health? What are your pain levels today?

 

     So, take a moment to share how you are doing.

Thanks Dani, always nioe to know someone is there...
I've not been feeling good, having asthma flairs and not sure if I want to see my pulmonary doc...
I've got a follow up tomorrow with the rheumy from all the bloodwork, so kinda nervous about that
and had a bad dream last night.......sure wish I wasn't so tried all the time and my eye's are hurting
and I'm doing the restasis 3x's a day......I just didn't want to bring anyone down, so ...
sure hope others are doing better, this morning....
been saying prayers for most everyone here...

Chartreux, I'm sorry it's been so lousy for you lately. Hopefully the blood tests will lead to something that will help you feel a bit better. I'm thinking of you!

My husband and I were away at our church's Family Camp this weekend. We stayed in a cabin with bunk-beds and I told my hubby there was NO way I was sleeping on the top....I'd kill myself trying to get up and down, etc. So, my giant husband (he's 6'5") curled up on the top bunk and slept like a log. I actually didn't sleep too badly...I think the fresh air had something to do with it. Over the entire weekend, I sat in my camp rocking chair in front of the main fire pit and did....nothing. Ah, it was grand!!! Ray pampered me as he always does (I've actually had to tell him lately to back off a bit and let me "do" some stuff...I'm starting to feel un-needed anywhere), we had perfect weather, and the time spent with friends was priceless. I haven't laughed so hard in years.

So, that was the kickoff to our official first day of Summer today. I've been puttering around the house, doing little bits of cleaning here and there, but mostly just relaxing. I have a girlfriend coming for dinner on Friday for Ray's homemade pizza and a gabfest, so that will be fun. And, this week...I have NOTHING medical that needs to be done. No appointments, no physio, no classes at the Pain Centre....nothing. Aaaaaaaahhhhhhh!

I hope everyone has a really good week this week. I'm praying for clear skies and sunshine and painless (or pain reduced!) days!!

Hi Dani,

I'm glad you posted this because I REALLY feel the need to vent today! So thank you in advance!

I am putting off making new PM and Neurologists appts. I've been in pain so long (11yrs) that I feel nothing more can be done. I think it's my conscience telling me to try to "live like normal people" but I know I will never be normal having chronic pain. It is reality. My reality. Many peoples "reality" here on the forum.

Anyways--Nervy tooth pain is raging today. Last week was mild. It always sucks to start the week with a 5-6 pain level and NERVY pain is just so darn aggravating. It is so hard for meds to work once the nervy feeling sets in. I have Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia btw. Very difficult to treat. What pain is easy to treat right? lol

I have had my coffee and am enjoying reading a book, surfing the news, and just relaxing. I have the summers off so I try to do as little as possible since stress triggers the pain even more. My daughter is in Pre-School all this week. I had three stay home "mommy/daughter" days with her last week and I was exhausted within a few hours-- my goodness. She'll be 5yrs next month and is very active, wanting to go swimming, shopping, play games, etc. I try to do my best and not complain about the pain around her. Again, pain takes so much away from me -- quality time spent with family etc. I do make sacrifices but some days it's impossible. It simply hurts too much. I have learned not to feel guilty about it. My husband tells me that I do more than some mom's who AREN'T in any chronic pain. That makes me feel good.

I had a horrible pain night yesterday. I think I forgot to change my patch on time. I could barely move. I couldnt sleep either. But I finally went to bed at 4am and fell asleep. Luckily I woke up to my usuall pain nit the extreme pain. I am thankful for my daily 5-6 on a scale of 1-10. I chhanged my patch last night so it must have kicked in overnight.

yay!

hubby was off today and we decide to take the kiddos to the beach. I am so grateful for such a nice day. It was hot but there was a nice breeze. The water was warmer than expected. The kids were good. What a lovely day.

My daughter is on summer break (she is 8) and I am really worried about how I will cope and entertain her. My son goes to preschool 3 days a week, and I usually nap and rest and get all my appts done. WHat am I going to do? Makes me anxious for sure.

I have a pm doc appt this week, and should go get some blood drawn but I think I will do that next week. I am planning on going out with friends friday night to see my favorite local band. I have also been busy making jewlery and selling it. I sold about $125 worth of my creations! My SIL brought my items to her work to sell and people went crazy she said. I love the fact that something I made makes people happy! She saved 1/2 of the items for another shift so hopefully I will make a few more $$. I really need the money too.

I have had a flare up of carpal tunnel which I havent had in 6 years! WOW I forgot how painful and debilitating it is. It is really hard to bead when you cant feel your fingers. Its the one hobby I have so It will stink if I cant do it.

I might try to go the beach again this week, maybe friday We will see how it goes.

My dog is having surgery on her toe thursday. SHe has a tumor (small one) that needs to come off. It makes me nervous to have her go under. Plus money is real tight I hope it doesnt cost too much. It needs to be done though.

Thats about it for me. I hope everyone has a great week and is feeling good. Thanks Dani for starting this thread.

Hi Dani!

It's so nice of you to get this thread going! It's cold up here in Washington state. The few tomatoes I put out in large deck pots are shivering! We are still dipping below 55* at night which is the lower limit for most tomatoes. So I bundle up in several layers, winter sox and do pretty good.

This week I will be doing some baking and freezing of main dishes. Extra daughter and her family will be moving into the house next door (that we own) and over the next 2 weeks I'll get more of a workout than I probably should. I figure since I'll be feeding everyone that if I get some casseroles in the fridge and bake up a bunch of cookies, etc. that we won't have to worry about meals. Plus it keeps the costs down. Maybe one day we'll get pizza but that's enough. We don't have delivery where we live but we do have a take out place, private ownership, that makes the worlds best pizza every. Everyone loves it! I'm picky about pizza. They are only about 10 minutes away but we don't go often. Might need a pizza fix next weekend.

Heading for bed...pain is exceptionally bad tonight, probably because of the weather.

   Dear Chart,

 

     I hate to say it but... If I were in your shoes I would be leery of seeing the pulmonary doctor too. It seems you cant go more than a week without having to see him since winter. You have had alot on your plate and I just cant say I blame you one bit for dreading doctors at this point. I do hope that you are able to get through the Rheumatologist appointment okay, and can find strength to call your pulminary doctor. Please let us know how the appointment with the rheumatologist goes.

 

     Oh yes and before I forget....  You couldnt possibly bring us down! You see, being able to be here for you brings us all closer. Stronger bonds, stronger hearts. Together we can do so much. So, please, don't be afraid to talk about what is going on. Thats what we are here for! Giving support, to me, makes me feel complete. I may not be able to do much as a chronic pain patient, but I can be here to listen. It feels important to me.

 

    I really hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. Please let us know how things went when you get a chance. You are ALWAYS in our prayers!

    Dear Pam,

 

     Next time you should take us with you!!! And oh the picture of your very manly husband sleeping on the top bunk is sooo cute! I am glad you had a good weekend. Its just what you needed to re-charge your batteries, so to speak.

 

     I am with you on the week off from doctors! It is nice to have a week to myself. I kept checking the calendar to make sure I wasnt missing anything. But, all I have planned is spring cleaning and pest control. In any case I hope you enjoy your week off. You ve had so much going on, it is high time you had a good week to yourself! Relax as much as you possibly can, you earned it!

   Dear Elenor,

 

     Gosh I am so sorry you have dental pain on top of everything else. I am convinced that pain in the face and leggs is the absolute worst! smhair I think I would rather listen to nails on a chalk board than have dental pain. Last summer I had a horrible time with dental pain after a surgical procedure. I hope with all my heart that I dont ever have to feel that kind of pain ever again. My heart goes out to you. Is there anything that can be done to help alleviate the pain?

 

     I completly understand about not wanting to meet ever MORE new doctors. But, think of it this way. The quicker you get introductions over with, the quicker you can get settled into a routeen with the new doctors and get back to the things you really enjoy. Besides, what if this time you can get real help with your pain management? I know you dont want to get your hopes up, but this could turn out to be something really go for you. Just gotta take a deep breath, sit down first thing in the morning, and make those new patient appointments. You can do it. Maybe these guys are different? ..... And you wont know unless you take the first step. *hugg*

 

     Yes, you do alot more than other moms. He is right. But, then again.. you know how to make the most of your time. You know how precious all the "little" things in life are. Above all you cherish your time and that makes all the difference. You try your hardest each and every day. It shows. 

 

     I hope you can find a few moments to relax today. You are in our hearts  :-)

   Dear Melissa,

 

     Gosh, I sure am sorry you had a never ending pain night. Those are the worst. Good thing you got the new patch on, though I can imagine you are very sore today. I hope tonight you are able to get some decent rest. The last thing you need right now is sleepless night AND no way to rest during the day.

 

     You know as my spinal deformity progresses, the less I can do physically. I have found that our craft store is perfect for busy girls. Paint bird houses, scrapbooking, make key chains, coffee mugs, friendship bracelets, posters, watercolors... all things I can do while sitting with heating pad. Okay, sure so we cant go backpacking and camping... But, we can find lots of "busy" stuff to sit down and work on together. My oldest just turned 9 and she loves the craft store, there is so many busy projects she can do!

 

     I sure do hope you have a great time on Friday. Youve had alot on your plate and you deserve a nice night out with friends! I really hope your pain doesnt keep you from having fun on frieday. What band are you going to see play?

 

      Oh how fantastic that you are able to make some money by doing something you love! How wonderful it would be if you got a website up or maybe a craft show to sell your wares? I have never seen your jewelry but I am sure it is beautiful! I sure hope the carpel tunnel flare eases quickly. Do you have anything that you can do to relieve the symptoms?

 

     I hope you have a good week, and a great time on friday! You and your dog are in our prayers here.

   Dear Chutz,

 

    Holy cow, I can't believe it is still that cold there. I would have though it would have warmed up a bit more by now. I hate that kind of cold, goes straight to the bones. Im aching just thinking about it *shiver* I hope you can stay warm enough to keep the achy flares at bay. Thats the last thing you need with your daughter and moving next door!

 

     I really hope you are able to keep your pain down the first few weeks while your daughter getts settled in. Though I am sure there will be lots of work to do, please be careful. Unpacking is hard work no doubt....  Great idea making all the dishes and suppers ahead of time, it will help alot to not have to worry about supper. Though the pizza parlor down the road sounds delicious!

 

      I hope you can get your daughter settled in quickly. You are in our hearts and peayers  :-)

Hi Everyone. I'm a little late to answering. I'm doing okay. My pain levels are always high, but nowhere near as high as they were during my dark period two months ago before everyone here convinced me to talk to my doctor.. So, I'm doing a lot better than I was, thank God. I think though, that even after almost ten years of being in pain that I am still having a hard time accepting it. Oh well.

     It is good to hear from you *hugg* Though gosh, I am sorry you are still having high pain days. I can imagine you are pretty darn tired of the never ending cycle by now. Though it is good it has come down somewhat.... I just wish it had come down enough for you to enjoy summer a little better.

 

    I don't think I ever make it through a day without hoping tomorrow is better. I think when we hope for a better day it just shows how strong our spirits are. What matters the most is that you try you make the most of every day and that is what makes you so beautiful. Stay strong! Please, know you are in our hearts and prayers.

Ok, how 'bout Tuesday Morning Roll Call - I'm always a day late and a dollar short! lol! Haven't vented in a while, so here goes! Pain levels are medium-high lately and I'm trying to so some (late) spring cleaning, so it's making it kinda difficult. But I'm too stubborn to not do what needs to be done. I refuse to let pain win! I have a new pain lately (of course), but I just reallly don't want to bring it up to my doctor. I am SO good at telling other people that they need to see their doc when they're having an issue, but not too good at taking my own advice! It actually isn't a 'new' pain - I've had it off and on for years. It's located in the center of my chest - the bone or cartilage between the breasts. Many years ago, I was in a very abusive relationship and during a particularly bad beating, I was thrown into a big oak table in my kitchen. I hit the table directly in the center of my chest. I'm quite sure I cracked 1 or 2 ribs in that area, but I could not bring myself to go to the hospital. I had just been in the emergency room the week before and couldn't face those people again. I was a different person then - very weak and lacking any semblance of strength or self-confidence. Anyhoo, that was a lifetime ago. So now, every once in awhile, this pain hits me - especially when I'm leaning over my computer or wearing tight shirts or pants - it hurts to breathe or turn a certain way. That's what I'm starting my week out with (along with my regular cp - oh lucky, lucky me! lol My boys are out of school - yippppeeee (NOT!) and my little one (11) is already bored to tears and says there's NOTHING to do. Oh, good grief. Once I had my own kids I realized why my mom always looked kinda sad when the last day of school rolled around! I'm still trying to find a job, but some good news - after 2 1/2 years of unemployment and job-searching, my fiance got a job!! It's not much and it doesn't come close to paying our bills - but he's WORKING! And I am very thankful. One day at a time. We will be ok - there are so many others who have it so much worse and I remind myself of that every single day.
