Any using the Boston Scientific Precision Plus SCS?

I just finished my test drive with Boston Scientific. My trial unit had two leads. Is this something new? I will tell you this I suffer nerve pain. muscle pain and bone pain results of being run over by a truck while sitting on my motorcycle stopped. My pain is predominately L1 through S1. My SCS trial reduced my nerve pain by about 75%. What kinda of incision will I encounter?

I've had mine for a while & it has 2 sets of leads. They are implanted parallel to each other. I've been told there is research out there to have 2 separate cords (each with 2 sets of leads), that could be implanted in 2 different parts of the body. Last I heard it hadn't been anywhere close to FDA approval, but I'm not sure where it's at.

The style we are talking about on this thread is a Spinal Cord Stimulator. I know there are neurostimulators that are attached to the nerves, but I can't tell you anything about them other than that I decided to go with the SCS based on my own situation. I did have severe nerve pain due to scar tissue that grew around my occipital nerve after a surgery for a congenital disorder. I personally have found that the SCS has been a HUGE help for the pain I was experiencing (primarily neck pain, pain at the base of my skull in the back of my head and pain radiating down my right shoulder & arm -- but some pain on my left side & down my back & towards my jaw joint). If your wife has tried every non-surgical option out there, I would say it is at least worth going through a trial (I'm assuming that's what the doctor is proposing). If the trial really helps, she will have a good idea about how well the permanent implant will work. It is a major decision, though & comes with a lengthy recovery time for the permanent implant so it is not a decision to make lightly. That said, I would do it again in a heartbeat because I went from really struggling to focus on much of anything because the pain was so severe, to being able to function fairly normally, on substantially less medication.

It is much quicker that way than waiting on someone to come on and maybe see this or not see it since it is an old thread. Good luck!  I hope it works for you.  Please let me know.  I actually have ATN from shingles.  Damage done to the nerve affected the upper right portion of my face and head.  Is yours the Boston Scientific or a different model?

This is my first day on this website.  I have been in daily pain since 10-13-08, because of a car accident.  I have been through physical therapy, orthopedic specialist, and about a year ago, finally to a pain management institute.  I have had three nerve ablations and I am scheduled for a fourth next Tuesday.  At this visit I will discuss with my PM doctor to proceed with the process of a Boson Scientific implant.  He gave me the dvd at my last visit and gave me this option.  I wear a TENS unit daily and it's getting to be a pain, no pun intended.  It's a combo nms and tens.  I am excited that I may get more pain relief, using less medication.  I currently take 3,5-500 Hydrocodone, 2,7.5-750's, 2, diazapam, and 1,Celebrex.  My pain is generated from the C1 to C7 region. travels between my shoulders and right arm.  Left side,rghtside, stabbing, deep, it moves.  I am glad to be able to share with others who understand where I'm coming from.  Thanks to all.
