I forgot to say that the pain/lack of relief may be completely unrelated to the swelling. Get the swelling down first, but you also may need to go for a whole bunch of reprogrammings to get it working in the right area to cover your pain. Try not to get too discouraged about all the reprogramming sessions. It just takes a while. ;)
The one thing that I absolutely cannot recommend, but I did it anyways b/c things just got too desperate was I saw an osteopath. He manipulated the battery to move it slightly. Doing something crazy like that can ruin the product, void the warranty, etc. but sometimes we need to be able to make those choices. For me, since I'm underweight, there wasn't a good fat pocket to place the battery in. My PM did a good job, but in spite of that there was a nerve that was being crushed between my pelvic bone & the battery -- especially when sitting or lying down, but also if I was wearing heavier pants (cords or jeans or flannel lined pants). After treating the keloid & using the topical steroid and eventually switching to a topical NSAID (Voltaren gel) there was still pain in certain positions. The osteopath was able to get me a bit more relief so that everything except lying down on the floor was as comfortable as pre-op.
Now I love my SCS. It's not perfect. It definitely has downsides, but mostly it's helpful. I still can't do a ton of physical activity & have flunked out of PT several times, but it is a whole lot better. :)
well wishes,
