Bad Week

Hello CP family, This week started off just like any other week.I went to pt monday morning and my therapist added two new exercises to the mix. So i go home ice my back and use the tens unit,felt fine for most of the day.That night my left hip started hurting and a little later my left leg starts hurting then the foot. It kept on hurting and seemed to intensify because it was a burning pain and it had me up most of the night. I got up took pain meds tried every position i could think of and couldn't get any relief. So tuesday i wasn't worth a flip and felt sick from the lack of sleep and pain meds i had taken.Hubby knew to just let me be one of those days i needed to be by myself.I went back to pt today and told her what happened so she didn't make me do the new exercises today. I think i'll be alright far as the pain level,but i got some bad news about my dad today. He's been going to several drs. as of late and the drs. told my mom he has cancer. Looks like he has cancer of the plasma cells called multiple myeloma. I didn't call my mother tonight because i know she's really stressed and wore out and i'm sure she needs a break from having to give all of us the news. So tomorrow i'll call and find out more like what the treatment will be and such. Just keep us in your thoughts and prayers! ihope you all are doing well and having lpd.

I'm so very sorry to hear about your dad's diagnosis. I had never heard about this type of cancer so I looked it up online. Even though there's no cure for this the Mayo Clinic website said there are lots of great treatments for improving the quality of life and to hold the cancer at bay. So there's hope for him, Kay.

I'm so glad he was able to go on your Alaska vacation last summer. You will cherish those memories forever.

Thanks Chart,Chutz and Tmjpain, Yes Chutz i'm so glad we did get to do our Alaskan vacation together. It will always be a wonderful memory of a good time with my parents. I also read the mayo site and i'm hopeful far as a treatment,but also worried because his cancer has mastasized. My dad will be 83 this year and i'm praying he won't have to suffer with this. I know he's been having some kidney issues and his mind is getting really bad. I thought i was in the clear far as my hip ,leg and foot pain but i woke up this morning and here it is again. I must have a disc really pressing on a nerve or something.I go back to my ortho dr. next weds. and i've had a new mri done so maybe he'll be able to help me with all this pain i'm having.I'm also dreading this drs. visit because the workers comp nurse will be attending my appointment uggg. I pray you guys are having better days than i am at the moment. Love you all

Thanks retiredmom, and i believe we have something in common. If i remember correctly you live in Ga i do too. I may need you to give me the name of your attorny.I'm starting to wonder if i'll ever be able to return to work i may have to file for disability (i really hate even saying that) i'd love to be able to get back to work but i can't help but have my doubts.

sorry things are going so rough for you right now. I just wanted to mention that my Dad was diagnosed in 1980 with Multiple Myloma and back then they did not have much in the way of treatment options. His was in a very advanced stage, but they went to a wonderful place called the Hypocritise (sp?) clinic in San Diego and learned how to live on raw fruits, vegitables and nuts. They bought a nice juicer and made tons of carrot juice (he was 50 and his hair had started to gray, but with the carrot juice it got bright red again), and they grew their own wheat grass and juiced it and all sorts of cool things and he lived until 1989. They had originally given him 6 months to live.....

Cancer is such a dasterdly desease...I'm sorry for your family.

Well things went from bad to worse.The pain never did ease up as the night went on it got worse and i tries everything to get it to stop .I took pain meds muscle relaxers i used ice i rubbed it tried every position i could think of and placed pillows under my leg. After doing this for hrs. and the pain by now was off the chart i was crying and moaning and growning,and of corse all alone hubby was out of town.I started to wonder should i call 911 but didn't want to. So finally at 5:30 am i called my mother inlaw and she came over and took me to the ER. I was really worried about going to the er because i didn't want to be looked at as someone drug seeking but i was in so much pain i would have let someone shoot me or cut my leg off by that point. The er doctor was very nice and so were the nurses and thank god there were no other peopel waiting when i got there sp they took me right in. The gave me a shot of dalahid some zofran and steroids and i'm feeling better today bur just a little gunshy afraid for it to start back up.thanks for listening to me rant!!
