I'm on a low dose embeda and seem to be tolerating it great.  Have terrible side affects from codeine and related, ultram, etc.  Has anyone else had experience with this drug? (a morphine tablet that can't be abused)

      Hello inka!

     Welcome to the CP forum. I do not know much about this med other than I think my Dr mentioned it to me, and said they were having success with it. I do believe it has a small capsual inside, and if you chew it, the effects of the morphine will be reversed. I'm sure there are other members here that may know more about it.

     Keep checking here for replys to your post. It is interesting to see what they are coming out with for pain management these days.

I was on Embeda, 30 mgs 2x's a day. For the first few weeks it really seemed to help and then , just like the rest of the morphine based meds I've tried. its effectiveness dropped off.I had been taking 6 norco for B/T with the embeda but as soon as I started the embeda I had to go up to 8 norco a day. This freaked my PM doc so she sent me to an addictionologist who now has me on subutex.
Embeda is indeed capsual and the "secret" ingrediant is naloxone which is suppose to prevent over use or overdose. You can only take it as prescribed or the naloxone will affect the efficency of the embeda med.
I currently am taking 4 8mg subutex daily and I HATE it. The taste is awful, I get nausceous and can't sleep but this question was about the embeda so....
I have heard some folks have fantastic results with the embeda and I hope it works for you

the other drug in Embeda is naltrexone not naloxone i believe. naloxone (Narcan) is the opioid-antagonist in suboxone that supposedly prevents IV drug use. naltrexone is used alone in pill form for matinance treatment for opiate addicts and for doctors that have become addicted to IV drugs in the hospital. it is part of the agreement to return to work with a active licence. if you take the pill once a day it will block the good effects of strong opiates or heroin just in case you would slip. the embeda capsules have morphine pellets with naltrexone at the core that passes through the gastro-intestinal system and is not absorbed systemically. the pellets release morphine in the system about the same rate as kadian so it takes a couple days to get it built up in your system. good luck

Great info-thank you. Supplements look great, have you considered sub-lingual B-12 2500 mcg? Do you have your vitamin D level in your blood checked? Some people need even more than the 2000. The doc has my husband on 4000IU daily.
