Hello everyone

I am new to here and it was recommended to me by a very dear friend of mine. I suffer from a undiagnosed illness (they are actually sending me to Emory University and then Mayo clinic for answers) that causes chronic generalized pain, non epileptic seizures, gait difficulty and a myriad of symptoms. All tests have come back negative for the usual though I have learned that doesn't mean I don't have a particular illness. I'm 23 and have been dealing with this for over 2 years. Currently I use medication, exercise when able, meditation to manage my pain. I'm really looking for a community of people who "get it" because I sure could use the support.

   Welcome OK , I'm sorry your having such a tough time at such a young age , I too was undiagnosed fot a year or more and not knowing is very hard to deal with . You've come to the right place however for support and possible help getting answers . Please hang in there and stay strong , you can accomplish anything . Again welcome to the family . Mikel

Welcome. This is a great place. There are so many kind, supportive people here. I'm sorry that you are going through so much. Do they have any idea of what it could possibly be?

Flower: they have absolutely no idea. I was a martial artist for 9 years and trained several hours a day. One night i had a seizure-like episode where I couldn't walk, slurred speech etc. The next day i slept for 12 hours and i got pronounced weakness on my left side. They said I had a TIA and they admitted me also to telemmetry floor because something was up with my heart (they enver told me and they didn't find anything). I was admitted for 2 weeks and had pain etc. its just gotten worse from there. I didn't have insurance until about a year ago so right now its all up in the air.

Welcome to HW. Although I have never heard of anything like you describe, I can certainly understand chronic pain and undiagnosed illness.

Fibromyalgia, is something you might want to ask your doctors about...
Welcome, sure wish it was under better circumstances than chronic pain.

Fibromyalgia is very real and some doctor don't like that chronic pain
can come on and not turn up on tests...I would say stick to your guns and
push for further tests...
I hope doctors can help you and that your feeling better soon

I am very sorry that, at such a young age, you had to go looking for us, but very happy that you found us! This is a very close-knit group...we are like family here! And like you said....We all "get it"! Suffering and not knowing why is terrible! It does not always solve the problem when you know what is wrong....but it does help! At least then...they can treat a disease and not just symptoms! I know that many of us have walked in your shoes at some point, and I certainly understand the frustration! I do not have a lot of advice other then hang in there and take care of you! Keep us posted here and I look forward to getting to know you!
