New Composition Of Oxycontin ER?

I've been told by my pain dr that the makers of Oxycontin ER have been told by the Government that they need to change the way it's made due to abuse of the drug. Drug abusers crush the pills, before consuming it thus erasing the extended release aspect of the medicine. The shiny coating on the pill is what allows it to be released slowly throughout the hours following taking oxycontin. If the pill is crushed, split, etc then the extended release becomes immediate release. So the makers of Oxycontin, according to my pain dr. changed it so that if someone tries to crush the pill, it becomes a gel like substance, rather than a powder. I don't know if this is true, but I'm just passing along the info that I received. Take care all...byeeeeeeeee

Yes. There is a new formulation out now. The pill imprint is OP. Some people are having side effects from the new formula, like upset stomach, etc. Also, you need to make sure to swallow it with a lot of water so it doesn't get stuck in your throat. There have been a lot of complaints about it.

I think that King is also working on another new formula.

Yes, I believe they changed it back in August,. and what a HUGE difference....and a horrible one at that!! Upset stomach, and it just doesnt work, like the old one did(CR). The pharmacist says the more people that call in to the manufacturer the better to let them know....the only way it will get changed. Good to know that "king" is working on a new formula, flower123. Something needs to be done. So sad that chronic patients that have to take this medication, have all these problems with it, and its all due to people that abuse it! What a joke!

I take roxi 30 right now in place of my opana. Ir is cheaper abd faster acting I feel.

I have heard same information about Oxycontin and that it does make you sick..I have Crohns and had to switch after formula was changed because it would "flare" my crohns .. The new medication which is acutually working better believe it or not.  Think it is stonger than oxy.. anyway you gotta feel bad for all those junkies out there! we alll know there is alot of them!

This is incorrect, the time release matrix was built into the pill itself. The color coating is simply used as a means for identification.
