Surgery last Thursday and here I am.....

The Fever could indicate an infection, does this doctor have practice in the ER,
go to the ER where you can get him called to. I don't think you should wait this out.
Maybe call and see if you can get an earlier appointment or a cancelled one, so
you can be seen sooner.
Others will come by with better advice...

Go to the hospital asap!!! This is nothing to play with and the sooner you get help the faster you will recover. It may be time to lay down the law with your family and tell them to take you to the ER or to the surgeon NOW. People often don't understand how serious a situation can be until you are in it. Don't wait!

    Hopefully by now you are speaking with your doctor and you are getting to the bottom of things. It sounds like many problems happened during your surgery. I am sorry that he ended up fusing them. I can tell from you post that you are sick and tired of extensive surgeries. He was honest about what had occurred. That is unusual in this day and age. I hope he still focused on your wellness.

    When it comes to the fever... many things come to mind. First and foremost is urgent care. Especially if having a fever after surgery is uncommon for you. You never know for sure, so it is best to air on the side of caution. Also, on your discharge papers should be a list of "Warnings". If any of the warning signs are happening (they are) that would be even further confirmation that it is time to head down to urgent care.

    I am a bit different. I have always had low grade fevers on and off through the majority of my adulthood. When I have any type of surgery or surgical procedure I run about 100 - 101 deg.. Even after all my eye surgeries. So, I usually have to keep my eyes peeled for a fever over 102 and any of the other warning signs. My doctors have never been able to figure out why I have the fevers one and off. Let alone after surgeries.

Well doc couldnt get me in and my fever finally broke.  I go see the surgeon tomorrow....taking a bag just in case.  Never know anymore when I will be staying at one of their first rate facilities!   lol  I appreciate all the concern and was ready to go and then all of a sudden, the fever and the swelling went down.  We waited a while and never flared back up, so I am hanging on till tomorrow...Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Oh goodness, I'm sorry that I never thought of that. I had a UTI after my fusion too because of the lovely nurse that kept telling me I didn't know what I was talking about with the catheter out of place. Thank God my cousin (also an RN) was there to take care of the catheter problem. Althought it was very embarassing at the time to have my female first cousin take care of me in such a physical way, it was a Godsend to have the catheter correctly placed.

After clearing the UTI, you should feel amazingly better.

Thanks again for the thoughts....This UTI is trying to finish me off I think....I havent had one in more than 10 years, and have NEVER had one that bleeds...all the time.  Just started antibiotics last night...hopeing it doesn't take  too long for them to start working!
