Well my CP family I have some long awaited news. It looks like my house is going to be sold!  Last Friday ( Good Friday) I was called by the realtor about a family wanting to see the house in the afternoon,(second time)!!  Well later on while I was in rehab the realtor called again and said to expect a an offer either that weekend or early the next week. This past tuesday they made and offer, and then we immediately counter offered, and then they came back with a  counter,counter offer, and we ( ex and I) accepted it! I signed  some paper work ( their intent to buy or something ) yesterday, and the closing will be on the first of June with them taking immediate possession that day! Now I am scrambling to find a temporary place to live  as I  need to get moved out all before the first of June! What I plan on doing is staying in my local area, untill I get some of my medical problems straightened out, while doing that I will be loooking and hopefully traveling and trying to find out exactly where I want to finally settle down at. As I had mentioned before I would like to go where it is  warmer and near a military installation ( perferrably a Air Force Base) so I can take advantage of my military retirement benefits. Well that is my news! I will admit I have been waiting for this for a long time! Right now it does seem a bit overwhelming with all the stuff I have to do before the first of June. I am sure I will get it all done, just taking one day at a time! smilewinkgrin

          Well!...how about that! And it happened on "Good Friday" as well!

                  Congrats! I know you have been looking forward to this for a very long...long time! Now if my wife and I could just follow suit!

       We wish we were closer to you to help move everything! I can really hear the excitement in you're voice and it is a great relief for you.

That's all I can say.   You know, I hope, how happy I am for you, WB.  Such a long time coming.... This is such wonderful, wonderful news.  tongue

I'm sure you do feel a bit overwhelmed w/ June approaching around the corner... but, as you said, one day at a time and it will get done.  I think you have the perfect plan to stay locally until you get some things figured out health-wise.  Then I'll work on convincing you to come to the West Coast :)  lol....

Oh, I'm so happy to hear your news; I truly am.

Congrats, White Beard!! Definately a "Good" Friday!

Well as far as warmer and near an Air Force base I'd say Nellis AFB over in Las Vegas, Nevada on the NE side of town. Definately gets warm out here in the summer time, and while we get "cold" in winter, we don't get anywhere near as cold as some places and certainly no snow.  smilewinkgrin

Congrats on selling your house.

You say you want to move somplace warmer and near an air force base...I live in Southeastern virginia where theres probably no where else that has more military installations but specifically air force base is langley air force base. And theres also colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown all within 15 minutes. Not to mention busch gardens europe...like florida has busch gardens africa. And we are right on the water so we have rivers and the ocean in Virginia Beach. Only about an hour from Richmond the state capital and about 3 hours from Washington DC by car. Not to mention we have norfolk naval station where the entire atlantic fleet is, we have oceana the master jet base for the entire east coast we have camp elmore, fort eustis, fort monroe, langley air force base, yorktown naval weapons station and thats really just a few. Plus we have NASA Langley and lots of excellent Universities in the area and Hospitals. Good Luck

I was stationed at Langley AFB back in mid-late seventies, Beautiful area, but as I remember a rather expensive area too! But that might all have changed??? But it is something that I have on my list to consider. Thanks again!

Congratulations WB. That is wonderful news. I'm really happy for ya. I agree it's a good idea to stay in your area until you get your health issues taken care of and then you can move anywhere you wish. I sure wouldn't advise you to move here to Western New York. It's great in spring after it decides to warm up of course, and Summer and Fall are wonderful, but Winter can be a bear here. It snows a lot and it's really cold some winters. I will say, taking it one day at a time, you will get it done on time. Be careful though, and don't hurt yourself. You take care. I hope you're having a low pain day.

Oh Whitebeard!!!

Congratulations!!!  I couldn't be happier for you.  Take it easy and let God guide you.

Eglin Air Force base is in Eglin, Florida.  Hubby was stationed there when we first were married and I had my first daughter there, as a matter of fact.  It is in northern Florida, in the panhandle.  It would be great to have you reside in Florida.  Eglin is cool in the winter and warm in the summer, but not as drastic as in the lower portion of the state.  Think about it.

I wish you nothing but the best and I will pray for you.

It it kind of expensive I guess compared to other parts of the South especially the Deep South but at the same rate the pay scales are usually higher here for private industry, obviously government pay is the same everywhere no matter the level of expenses, which if you think about it really isn't very fair to begin with but. Hey its something to think about you know? Personally I don't think you can find a more pretty area with more to do in the immediate area then here.

You've got water, meaning rivers and lakes, and you've also go the Cheasepeake Bay the largest in the country, and then you also have the atlantic ocean. Within about 3 hours drive you have Shanendoah Valley and Washington DC. There is also major pro sports teams within hours of here, you have the washington redskins, the baltimore ravens, the carolina panthers, then you also have the baltimore orioles, the washington nationals. Just plenty to do in the area and in the state as a whole....plus dont forget the state slogan 'Virginia is for lovers' lol

That's wonderful news White Beard!! Get people to help you with your packing and moving if you have to...don't try to do it all on your own. Will you be renting something for now until you decide where to move to permanently?

I hope everything goes well for you. Will the sale of the house also help you financially? You'll be in my thoughts - I may be facing a similar situation re: moving.

This has been a long time coming for you. Oh you so deserve this as you have been thru so

much and waited so long. Your time has come my friend! Don't over do yourself on the packing.

Try to space it out. Perhaps someone from your church could come and help you or some young

students looking to make a couple dollars.

All the best to you WB and keep us up to date on how you are doing and where you will

be moving too.
