Drug Recalls

Hi everyone. These recalls don't seem to be terribly dangerous, but it does bother me a lot that we seem to be seeing more recalls these days. Maybe it's just me...

Just wanted to let you know that Endocet 10/325 has been recalled because a bottle of it contained some pills that were Endocet 10/625, and the concern was acetaminophen toxicity.

Also, there was another voluntary Tylenol recall (caplets) because of the odor of the pills and the concern that they may contain TBA. The lot number is ABA619. The UPC code is 300450444271.

It's not just over the counter meds, it's prescribed meds too. I was on Fentyal patches and found out by accident that there was a recall on them! It was a strength that was lower than I was on and a different lot number but there had been several recalls at different times of the two different strengths. I had been having problems with my patches anyway so when I called the company to ask them about the other patches and to report my problems they said " we didn't have any other problems". After that I insisted that my pm dr take me off the patches/

I have had epilepsy on and off for most of my life starting at age 14 and I'm 44 now. During that time I've had to take medicine. about 2yrs ago my teeth starting cracking at the gum line. When I went to my dentist he told me that because of all the meds that I've had to take for epilepsy my teeth are starting to rot from the inside out. I asked him how this could happen and he told me that the FDA knows about it but "they" are willing to risk it for the rewards. This is the second time I've found out by accident there was something wrong with the medicine, not only that the FDA approved, but I had to pay for!

One of the things that both my PM and my Dentist have said to me, are any medicines including all narcotics and muscle relaxers, because of their properties they not only cause constipation by 'slowing down' the intestines....they also 'draw away' water in our bodies....so this causes dehydration of our bowels, mouth, and skin..

So this ends up causing dry mouth which is harmful to our teeth....I have had 4 cracked/broken teeth in the last two years due to my medicine. My Dentist has said to use Trident..ONLY with Xylitol in it..to help keep my mouth have more saliva, and use of Biotene mouthwash...This is specifically for dry mouth and issues with teeth.

I also drink anywhere from 14-20 glasses of water a day...I do NOT drink any sodas...sugar or not.. and maybe a glass of iced tea every so often..and only one cup of coffee in the am....I stick to water all day, everyday.

Water also helps people who take an antidepressant or nerve pain medicine that can lead to weight gain because those meds make you retain water....so drinking more water along with lowering your salt intake and less simple carbohydrates, this actually helps flush out your system and keep your weight in check.

So, not only has water helped my bowel movements....it's helped my energy level and it keeps the side effects of the medicines I take to be minimal...
