It's great to be back!  Of course I see that we have several new people in pain here and it saddens me to see that more and more people are in pain with this joke of a diagnosis we call CP!  Why you ask do I call it a joke?  Because it seems to me that our doctors won't take it seriously because our lovely Government in their infinate wisdom has decided that they are going to cast doubt and misery upon all people with CP.  They give us a bad rap when it comes to our drugs that we HAVE to take to control our pain, but yet these fly by night pain clinics get light sentences and are back in business a few weeks or months later doing business as usual.

Yet here we are.....in pain and suffering with light medications that don't even begin to cover our pain!  I'm a little miffed to read all these posts about doctors and nurses that seem to think we are either lying about our pain or conviently calling us "drug addicts!"  It's not fair!!!!

Anyway, now that I have vented a bit....I will go on with how I am doing as of late.  Going on 11 years with this stupid back pain is not something I really desired to live with for all these years.  Yet here I am!  Doc just keeps pushing the drugs and for now it keeps my pain down a bit.  (can ya tell I am having a bad day with my pain control?!)

Recently, (a month ago to be exact) my baby dog who was 11 years old died.  He had pancreatic cancer and was very ill.  It was horrible on my hubby and he decided that maybe getting a new pup to replace Remi might help his grieving.  So, we went and picked up a new lab puppy.  Now life is hell because I have to keep this puppy from destructive behavior while hubby works!  Its not all that bad, but it has kept my pain higher and I hate that part of the process!

Sorry that my ramblings have been a bit long today, but I thought I better keep my dear CP friends updated on what is going on here on my end.  I wish each of you a low pain week and for all of you that don't know me....I'm Scarred and I understand pain!!  hehehehe!

Sorry about the loss of your dog...that can hurt.
It's good you have a new dog, but maybe next time adopt a dog from the shelter, some of them are already
house broken and no puppy chewing stage...the puppy chewing stage can be so hard on ya...anyways...
...Hope you can get a low pain day..

Hello Scarred, I am nini53, so sorry to hear about your dog.  I am not normally a dog (or cat) lover for that matter, my daughter got a 8 weeks old yorkshire terrier, and I cant imagine life without her now.

Labs are great dogs, but the main puppy stage can be real hell to get through because they are such high energy dogs.

Once they turn about a year old labs calm down a lot, though they are still very energetic.

I am so glad to see you back! Sorry about the loss of your dog though. It is never easy to lose a friend of 11 years, even the canine or feline kind.

Hope your pain begins to get better. We have a golden retriever, and the first 3 years I thought I had a demon not a dog. He chewed everything, freaked out and destroyed things when I left the house for work. It was awful. Now we have a bugg (boston terrier pug mix) that I was home all day to train, and no problems from either dog. Our Bugg was 12 weeks old when we got him. They are like my sons, just always willing to sit with me, warm my feet, or love me when I fall.

Good luck! I hope he begins to stop the chewing and needy stages for you.

So sorry to hear of the dog passing,..not an easy thing to get over….but glad you have another one in training.

Are you still seeing the same PM Dr here near me? I'm headed in Friday to visit my DR and am going to request that he send me to a PM..which is way over due. I really need this, and I hope he will support it, as I'm just worn out from this back pain as well.

We hope you stay and visit with us a long while….and yes we have many new faces here. Were pretty proud of them all, but like you,... we too!...feel badly for their stories of CP. We can always use your help here, so jump right in, and please share your experience with us all.

I myself had one of the most rotten days in a long time…everything has been going wrong today. Broken down car, broken cell phone, children problems…and the list goes on! shakehead Hope tomorrow is better…it just has to be!

Hey all! Thanks for all of the great posts all. I wanna also thank you for all your warm thoughts for Remi. He was very special to us and we miss him greatly. Hope you all have a low pain night. I wanted to tell Char that even though I do love pound puppies, this was hubby's decision to buy his dog. He's wanted a new lab for a long time, a companion to go hunting with, since I cannot. I am muddling through this whole ordeal and I'll be fine.

SE: I wanted to let you know, yeah I am still going to the same PCP that I have been going to.

it seems like it has been a very long time since I have seen a post by you, Welcome Back!! I am sorry about the loss of your dog, Pets be come members of ones family, ( especially dogs I think) and when one passes on it is very very difficult. After all.... you have suffered  the loss of a loved!  You really do have my sympathies!. It sounds like you have your hands full with your new lab puppy, but like all youngsters,   they will try your patients and want to make you pull your hair out at times, and maybe even question why you wanted them in the first place. But in the end,  even puppies like all youngsters, will win your heart, and then you just can't ever immagine life without them!. I just hope you can do all the initial training, and make it through with as little pain as possible!

Hello, I'm Serenitee, nice to meet you. I am so very sorry for your loss of your dog. What a difficult loss to go thru. I hope you can enjoy your new puppy.

I suffer from quite a bit medical issues, Chronic Pain being one. I had to have an ileostomy in May 2011 due to my intestines completely shutting down and not functioning or moving anything thru. I've suffered from bowel disease for 44 years do getting the ileostomy was the best thing I did. My main Chronic Pain now is Extreme Pelvic & Bladder Pain, almost unbeara

ble. Was diagnosed with Pelvic Trauma & Dysfunction. I have 7-kids and having so many pregnancies and births have really destroyed my insides. A year and a half ago my colon tore thru the vagnial wall and the colon and bladder fell out of my body. This caused so much damage inside of me.

I won't bother you with all my problems, but thank you for letting me vent. It was great to meet you and look forward to chatting some more with you.

Loop ileostomy May of this year. When colon and bladder fell out I had to have a vaginal vault lift, rectocele & enterocele (bladder lift w/mesh). I've had 2-bladder lifts, 2-rectum lifts, abdominal hysterectomy, C-section, ruptured appendix, tumor removed from head, shoulder surgery, 4-knee surgeries w/screws...These are just a few of my operations.

Recently diagnosed with Bipolar 2 (Manic-Depressive), Borderline, Anxiety/Panic Disorder, Ptsd

Hey Scarrred it has been quite a while since we have heard from you. So glad to see you post. So sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. I miss my Jake something terrible, its been two years and I still find myself thinking of him a lot and sometimes I just cry. Jaker was my buddy and constant companion, the dog would not leave my side. My husband who has had many dogs always said he never had seen anything like Jake being so attached to me. I went up to OKC to visit my sister and could not take him because she has 5 cats. Well, I had to leave him and on the third day the husband calls and says you need to come home, Jake will not eat, he has not touched a bite of anything since you left. I came back home and when I got inside he headed straight to the food bowl!! He was something else for sure. Jake was a golden retriever.

My goodness, you are going to have a time with that lab. All I will say is it is a good thing you are home a lot, lol. Do you have a kennel for him? I have kennels inside for both of our dogs, they go in and crash in them or nab stuff off the counters and hide it in the back of their kennels, lol. I have heard labs as pups can be hard headed. I have a female golden and boy is she ever hard headed, lol.

It sounds like pain wise you are doing about the same these days. So good to hear from you, don't be such a stranger. Take care.

Welcome *back* to the boards - so glad to see you here!!  You've been missed...

I'm sorry you are still battling CP, though.... it seems like you still have ups/downs w/ your pain control.  That's pretty much the same for me, too.  I hate it. 

I'm so sorry for the loss of your dog :(  Ahhhh, I understand what it's like raising a new puppy!!  It wasn't until we got our dog a few years ago that I realized that raising a puppy is like raising a toddler - they are into everything!!  And you've got a big dog... we've just got a little maltipoo. 

Well, hope to see you more here on the boards.....!

Hi Scarred Welcome back. It's so good to see you back I was wondering how you were doing. It sounds like you're having your ups and downs like some of the rest of us.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your doggie. I know how much it hurts. When I was growing up and in my teen years, we lost several. It does hurt. It sounds like you have your hands full with your new puppy. I hope you get some relief soon from the pain.

Thank you so much for all your posts, my friends!!! It really warms my heart to see all my dear friends still here. Kinda like a comfortable blanket that you've had for years...it may have a few tears in it and may be old, but its comforting! Not that I am saying any of ya are old LOL Or worn out like a blanket! hehe But having this site has been a wonderful addition to my routine.

The new puppy's name is Cooper Golden Nitro Glycerin. He's a registered labrador retriever and YES he is as hard headed as most males of his breed. The females are easier to train in my opinion, they aim to please. He's 14 weeks old and we just had him chipped in case he wanders off. The neighbors behind us have one of those toy fox terriors and he got loose from his leash this morning. For some reason he found his way over to my house. Cute lil thing, but high energy and was all over the place. I hollared to his owner and waited twenty minutes before I got mad and got the leash and walked him home..knocking on doors trying to find his owners.

I was mad as all get out that people get puppies because they are cute, but when it comes to taking care of them....they suck at it!!!!

Anyway, I'll close for now cause I have taken my night meds and am ready to head for bed soon.

Hey Scarred, well I am getting old, gal I turned 58 in June, and I am getting closer to 60 than I am 50, lol.

I am right there with you when it comes to dogs. My next door neighbors bought a Australian Sheperd and he was about 8 weeks old when they got him. All fur and fuzz, so cute and a beautiful color. He is getting to be a pretty big boy now and the wife does not like big dogs especially indoors. He has been kept indoors and they do have a big nice kennel for him. Well, hubby & the kids went to visit relatives out of town last week, (I did not know this)she had to stay and work. Every morning she was home she kicked the pup out and would not let him back in for a long time. It has been 100 plus here and this dog is not use to the heat and oh he cried and whined. Dogs can have heat strokes!! I got so mad, I first called her husbands cell and got no answer and then I went knocking on the front door. She opened the front door had the stereo cranked up so loud the walls were vibrating, see she was drowning out the dog barking. I told her the dog was in the back yard barking and if she didn't get him inside he could have a heat stroke. She knew I was mad, this is not our first talk over dogs. I said either take him inside or I will bring him to my house and he can come in and play with my dogs!! She said she had been mopping the kitchen and dining room and because he could see her he was barking. Thats not completely true because she does not mop every day. She took the dog in, but I had already warned them of a neighbor behind us complaining of him barking because her husband works nights and sleeps during the day and that this gal would call them in and complain and they can get a ticket. If she continues to kick the dog out like this I ill call in too. There is no shade in that yard and its way too hot for animals to be out in it. Its in the news and newspapers to bring the animals in out of this heat. Some people just do not need animals and they are them!!! As my husband said, Susie, don't get all lathered up over this, just go get the pup out of the yard and bring him over here, I have done this before and called and told them I had their dog over here with mine!!!

        Some of the best blankets...I ever used were at my Grandmothers house....the older the blanket the better it was made (Usually stiched by hand).... Yep!...maybe I'm considered an old geezer too!...but hopefully there is some worth there.

     Good to see you again....and I love the name Cooper for a dog name!

Hey all! SE great to see ya, so to speak LOL!!! I did a real dumb thing the other day and decided that before my ole girl goes to that big doggy heaven in the sky (she's 12) that I would replace her with a new puppy!!!!!!

Now I am wondering WHY!? I have the cooper pup but now in 28 days I will be traveling to Arkansas and pick me up my new girl! She is a Bichon and is adorable from what I have seen of her! So now I am wondering why I need a new pup and trying like hell to justify the headache LOL! Of course this one will be my lil lap dog and I am really excited to get her. With Jazz getting up there in years, I know she won't be with me much longer and Shadow is going to the vet as she is now having problems breathing. She gets stressed with the new puppy chewing on her (Cooper thinks she is a chew toy!) she starts really breathing hard and gets really sick.

Another one looks like she will be leaving soon, so sad!

Oh Scarred I'm sorry that your doggie is having a hard time. Maybe you could put her in a room by herself for a few hours so she could get some rest from Cooper. Bless her heart. I wish we could get a small dog myself, but I can't see our landlord letting us get one since we have 2 birds already.

Stray It makes me mad too when I see animals outside in this extreme heat. I'm so glad that you bring the puppy to your house. If I were you. I would be telling the husband about it when he gets home. This make me so angry.

I hope you're both having a low pain evening.

Thanks for the hugs Scarred. I'm glad my neighbors don't do that. I would probably go get them and bring them in our apartment.

It's so hot and humid here. Thank God it is supposed to cool off tomorrow for a few days.

Straydog, I had the same problem with the people who live behind me. Their backyard backs up to my backyard and my backyard has alot of shade trees. Their yard has none. When they moved in a couple of months ago, the weather was still cold and windows were still closed. A couple of weeks ago when it got warm enough to open the windows, the woman thought it was "finally" time to leave her dog outside. She chained her dog up all the way to the back corner of her yard to use my shade tree so she wouldn't have to buy a doghouse! That isn't even the bad part. Her german sheppard barked all day and all night. I'm not kidding. This happened for 2 days. On the 3rd day I lost my mind. It was about 9:00-9:30 in the morning and I had already heard this for about 1 hour. Oh, by the way, this dog is only about a year old, if that, which means this bark is more like a high pitch yipe. Anyway, I went out on my back deck and stood there, and every time the dog barked, I said "hush". After only 3 minutes the woman came out and got her dog. Now if she can hear me "telling" not "yelling" for her dog to hush at 200ft away she can surely hear her dog barking at 20ft away. Maybe she thought I forgot about the trauma she just put me through because one week later she chained the dog back to my tree. This time she was just being hateful, she waited until bedtime. Her dog had not been out all day until now. My husband was locking up his work shed when he saw her sneak to the tree and run away. Are you serious lady? I guess she thought she got away with something but this is just ignorant, not to mention cruel to the poor dog who just wants to be loved. At 2:00am I'd had enough. By 4:00 I was furious. I had church in the morning and I called the police. This was ridiculous. When the police came to my house they asked me if I wanted to file a complaint, I told them they didn't have enough paper. That poor officer could tell this wasn't the first time I'd heard this dog. The officer took down my complaint then told me that if this continued to contact the spca. I told him I had no problem, this isn't fair to anybody, the people trying to sleep, the dog, or him to have to come out for cranky neighbors when there might be something important he could be needed for. I haven't heard my neighbor's dog one time since. I know dogs will bark, but not all day and night long.

Kat I would have been banging on her door at 2:00am and telling her an ear full. I cannot stand to hear a dog bark and I have two,. I do not allow my dogs to bark, oh we all know dogs bark, but mine are not left out and if they see something to bark at they do it. Is there a law where you live about chaining a dog up? There is where I live. I would call the police or code enforcement over neighbor. I can get real upside down over animals real quick.

When my three are outside the minute they begin to bark I bring them inside. One of the reasons is my next door neighbor works at night. She is a dispatcher at our local PD and I know she sleeps in her bedroom downstairs. So when the dogs begin barking I bring them in.

I know that if it were me I'd be angry if someone left their dog out to bark all the time. The other neighbor, as I have said previously, has a mixed breed that is outside all day. Now I know for a fact that many of us have been through this heat stroking, oven temps that have been plagueing the country for many days and weeks. We here in KS are a week or two out from breaking a major record. We have had at least 40 days of 100's and over and yesterday Wichita broke their heat record with 111 temps. In 1935 or 6 the longest for a heat wave was 50 days and we are close to breaking that record.

But I digress, leavin a animal in temps of 100's is not only is wrong but I believe it is illegal! It irritates me to no end when I see a little dog sitting in a car in 100 degree temps. What are their owners thinking!? This is so stupid! People who leave their animals out in this heat is lame and should be strapped to a pole out in this heat to see what it feels like!

Sorry for the vent....it just gets me so angry!
