Hello
Cathy! Well…I'm sorry that the infection is so bad, but I am glad you are receiving professional care now. As Jim said, you need to focus on getting better and put this nasty Staph infection to bed once and for all if they can. We wish you the best as you go into surgery this morning, and hopefully they will remove the worst of it.
I have always said if a person does not stop and take care of the body….it will do it for you. It's not the best way to go about
it either. Most photographers absolutely love their work, and tend to be workaholics. I know, because I used to work both my current job and my photography business, and was putting in 16hr days or more. The love of the craft will often override the sensible solution of ones priority's.
I attribute some of this as the reason for my first Divorce, even though I thought I was doing a good thing by providing for my family. I think I would still be doing it to this day, had it not been for my current health problems. I remember full well having a Heart Attack in 2002, and telling the Dr, while I was laying in ICU, that I was planning on shooting a football league the following day. He just laughed and said "Not happing Pal" That news crushed me, and I was bound and determined to get the job done I had made a commitment to. In the end,.. some of the area photographers joined forces and helped me out to complete the photo shoots. The leagues forbear my absence, and when I got back on my feet, the contracts with them were still intact, and I served them many more years.
My leagues were more worried for me than I was, and the cards that arrived at the house were proof of it. It was a shock,... as a workaholic,... to think that the world would continue to turn one more day without me, but you know what!….it did! The only chance I had to return to something that I loved doing so well, was to stop everything for a while, and take the advice of the Dr's and friends.
I'm not sure if the photography is a hobby or a full time job for you, but I can tell you that it is hard on the body, especially if you are photographing children, as you have to get down on their level. I think I spent most of my time as a photographer on one knee, and made some great friends while down on that level. I received more high-five's and hugs from those kiddo's and it was truly humbling and an honor as I provided parents and their children a snap shot in time,...to be cherished forever! If you can't tell….then I will spell it out for you!…"I loved it" …..and it was an exciting period in my life!
I know you have things to do in life, and maybe some of them are pressing responsibilities, and others are the love of your life. The worry of cost and such will not heal you any quicker either. Again, I and others will beg you to take care of you're health first, and then cross that bridge when you get there.
I know you have not been a member very long here, but this I can tell you!…that the members do care, and will support you. I cannot think of a greater bunch of people to share with in my life….and that includes good friends of the church I belong too! Every member here, suffers from some sort of Chronic condition, and some of them multiple conditions! We hope you will continue to let us support you, and get to know you better as well.
We will continue to pray for your health, and that they can put this staph to rest once and for all.
Again!…good luck today…and healing prayers to you.
Take care!
