still have extreme pain.

I'm sorry for complaining so much about my pain. No matter what I do, I can't get the pain to lessen. If it's not better by Monday, I'm calling my doctor for an appointment.

I did call and make an appointment for the pulmonary doctor today. It's later this month.

I'm going to call Monday and get an appointment with my neurosurgeon about getting my MRIs read. I'm tired of not knowing if something is going on in my thoracic spine or if something is wrong in my lumbar spine.

I wanted to answer Suzane's questions. As far as I know I don't have any herniated discs. I have a compression fracture in my thoracic spine that dfidn't heal.

I haven't had any kind of injections in my back except when I had to have an epidural to get the rest out when I gave birth to Jessica :( It hurt really bad.

sorry you're feeling so bad. i'm in the same boat- i've been debating going to the er for a week now for my crohn's disease...it's been horrible lately. i know all they'll do is stick me in for a scan and give me some morphine unless something is really wrong...who knows. i'm scared the trip to the er will screw things up with my pm doc if they give me meds there. that plus i really hate that place. not that anyone likes it...anyway hope you can get some sleep and if you do go to the doc they have some good news for you!

I am sorry you are suffering so much! It seems to be a theme lately...It seems like everyone I know with CP is having problems! I have had the epidural and trigger point injections. The first time I went in, I had over 70 injections...terrible....but it seemed to help. The second time I went in, I had close to the same....but this time it was much worse. Seemed like the doc was in a hurry, and a couple times it felt like her was scraping my bone with the needle...he probably didn't, but I thought he did! For the next 3 days, I felt 10 times worse and was basically bed-ridden! I won't do that again..but I have heard that it helps some people a lot!!

Anyway, praying you have a LPD and take care of you!

           Loretta, I'm glad you are finally getting in to check out the mass on the lungs. "Good for You!" wink

     I believe there is a procedure where they can cement the stress fractures, and I think it is pretty successful in many patients who have them. It might be a possibility for you?

        You may need to get back to your PM and see if they will up the med's for you as well. If I remember right, she has been reducing them.

Kyphoplasty is a procedure that cements or fuses a vertebra that has collapsed from a compression fracture. I believe it is considered low risk. It is an out patient procedure. My mother-in-law has had it done twice. She was in agony after the compression fracture and pain free immediately after the procedure.

Oh Loretta, I'm sorry that you're in so much pain. I know how much mine are hurting as a fairly acute injury - I dread to think how painful they would be setting up as a CP process :(

Thank you Michael, Gretchen, Laura, Becky and mtgman for your support. It makes me feel better to know that I'm not alone. I really feel like you all are part of my family. My family lives in middle Tennessee near Nashville and we live in western New York near Buffalo. So having you all helps with being so far from them also.

I read about the kyphoplasty one night and the info said it wasn't as successful when the injury has happened longer than a year ago. I fell 10 years ago and it resulted in the compression fracture. The neurosurgeon that I saw said it can paralyze me. That's why I didn't have it done. I may be in all this pain, but at least I'm not paralyzed. That really scares me.

As most of you know, I see my PCP for my pain meds, and I'm going to call her office on Monday for an appointment if this pain isn't better. It's a bit better than it has been, but it can change so fast, so I hope it continues to get better.

Well, I'll go for now. You all take care. I hope you're all having a low pain day.

  Loretta, I am so sorry you are having so much back pain. I pray that is can get better soon for you.

Yes that must be tough not being close to your family. But you certainly have all of us here to support you.

I think that's a good idea to see your doctor next week. What about a pain management dr.? Maybe a change

of narcotic is needed for you? Have you tried Methadone?

Hang in there girl. I know it's tough but just take it one day at a time. We're here for you.

Loretta. don't think your complaining ,we all know pain and understand how unbarable it can be.It seems to get worst when you don't sleep enough and stress.I think telling the doctor is a great plan even if you feel abit better on monday.I read somewhere that most people in pain are under medicated ?So maybe if you can get more meds it might help,for the times it gets real bad.I sure hope you feel better soon !I find sometimes doing as little as possible and lots of rest can help the pain levels go down ?I sure hope the dr will be able to do something ,till than take care ,michele

Thank you Suzane, Michele and Betsey. The pain is a bit better today. The temperatures outside feel wonderful. It's Autumn in the air, and I love Autumn. It's my favorite time of the year, with the leaves turning colors on the trees and the temperatures in the low 70s and 60s during the day. Sniff mmm soo gooood. I have been waiting for this ever since it started to get extremely hot and humid. I hate hot weather. It's ok when it's in the low 80s but please no humidity. You all take care. I'm trying to catch up here on the board.... things have been so crazy. Sorry you were/are dealing so much pain. But glad it's a little better....

You know I'm the same - can't do the hot weather at all. I feel bad saying that because here in California we've had the most mild summer in years. I know other parts of the country have been through so much, one way or the other.

Regardless of the weather, though, I have to keep the air conditioner running full-time here @ around 69F (I get the medical discount, thank goodness). Otherwise, I can't function with my heart issues. My children have a stock of sweatshirts and blankets to withstand our freezing house....it's kind of sad!

Anyway, just checking in to say hello. Hope everything else is going along ok. Glad, too, to hear you've made an appointment w/ the pulmonologist. Will be anxious to hear what's going on....

Did you call the neurosurgeon for an appointment to read your MRI? I hope you had time to do that.

Loretta, since w/c never paid for that nsaid gel that my family doc wrote a script for, I wasnt able to get it,...it cost $200
I bought tiger balm it has camphor and menthol in it. It smells but it made my back,hip and knees feel better so I could sleep. I couldnt get biofreeze so I will work with this.

Thanks for encouraging me and replying to my panicked questions.

Hi Tina I'm so glad to hear from you. I miss you, but I know you are really busy with the babies and schooling part of the boys. I really don't know how you take care of your kids, the house and take care of yourself. If you are up during the night until about 11-12pm your time, I'm up if you have yahoo messenger or we could go to the chat room and talk, if you are up hurting and can't get to sleep.

Hi Betsey No, I haven't made the appointment yet. Monday and Tuesday I didn't remember until it's too late, and today we went out shopping ( which I'm paying for now. I'm hurting like crazy now) and didn't have time to call.
