Question about pain med strengths...

This is a strange question, but either I am losing my mind, or what I am thinking is true...or I was sent the wrong medication.

When I go to my PM doc, I get my meds there.  I don't have to wait for them to be shipped to me.  Well, this last time, as I have shared, they shipped me my meds since I am unable to get to the doctor's office right now.  I take Percocet 7.5...and they are kicking my butt right now!  A FAR cry from the normal "take care of my pain but can still function."  Within 20 minutes of taking one, I am zonked for about 2 hours!

They are from a different manufacturer than I normally get.  Could this be the reason they are apparently stronger?  I can't function like this...but sadly, still need to take one during the day in addition to the one at night.

I think you should call the pharmacist and verify that you do, in fact, have the correct medication. Actually, I think you should take it to them for inspection and verification...but I understand that's a problem for you.

I know pharmacists normally insist that different generic brands are the exact same active ingredient as the Brand name drug, but I can sometimes just swear that some manufacturers seem stronger to me. I know they can change the filler ingredients...maybe that can affect the active ingredient. If you can't function and these pills seem very different to you, then I think you most definitely need to get them back to that pharmacy to be checked.

I am going to have them checked out, because they are STRONG! This morning, I woke up with my hand killing me and couldn't go back to sleep, so I got some breakfast, took a percocet and sat to watch one of my shows online. I got so light-headed and dizzy that I finally decided to go lay back down...and nearly passed out in the hallway! I checked the code stamped on them and they are coded correctly. Is there a website to check for any potential recalls? They are really, really STRONG!

I had a similar experience and when I brought them to my doctor after seeing the pharmacist my doctor gave me a lower dosage that did not work at all. After a few days of that I started taking 2 but my Rx says take 1-2 so I was ok. A 10 mg was too strong but a 5 was not enough but 2 - 5mg tablets were perfect. You would think 2 x 5mg tabs would be the same as 1 - 10mg tablet. I never did get any answers from the pharmacist and my dr said its weird but he has heard of this before.

I hope you get this sorted out, I would cut the tablet in half and try that and if you need more cut the last half in half because that would equal the 7.5 you are used to. Just an idea to help.

OH MY GOSH HOW DID I MISS IT!

They sent me Percocet TEN! No WONDER I'm useless!

Now to have them fix it...because I can't go on like this.

Oh my Gosh. I'm glad you're ok. Mistakes happen, but this is a mistake that should not happen.

I have to get a ton of things done tomorrow and am a nervous wreck! It will be my first time attempting to drive since the 29th of August. Although it is my left leg, so that won't affect my driving, I am not going to be able to take these pain meds and that kind of freaks me out. It is amazing just how much that 2.5 makes a difference in functionability.

hi there- you can always verify yourself- type in "pill identifier" on google and go to any of the sites that pop up. type in the markings, color and shape of the pill and it will tell you what you have.

Hi. I'm glad that you figured out what was going on. I'd let the pharmacy and your doctor know about it, and in the meantime maybe you can split the pills?
