I am here. Sorry. Been so rough, but trying to get things in order.
I was able to open a separate checking account to try and put money away... And looking into disability... But don't know yet.
Just trying to keep my head down till I can get out.

Glad to see your post ,I was hoping your fine,I think getting a laywer for your disabilty claim ,is probley a good idea ,you will get it faster.The separate account is a great start.It seems like you have taken the right approch ,too your situation.I'm having arough patch trying to stop smoking,also its been amonth since my surgery ,so I cut back pain meds at the time!Maybe abit soon,I have been so tired! take care ,it was good to seeyour post from Michele

I too need to quit smoking. I am actually quite surprised to see some people on here do smoke, as it is such a taboo thing now... My dr keeps telling me to stop and of course, I want to... But with all that is going on with my life, I think I should wait... Don't need One more thing to depress me...

(for those that don't know, my husband is emotionally abusive, I have no medical insurance and trying to find hidden money for my RX each month is hard, also looking for work, but just can't physically do anything, so gonna try to get a lawyer to help with a disability claim)

I do have some money coming that "the warden" as I now call him, is unaware of. So that why I opened a separate account. Hope he never finds out about it. I have all my bases covered...
In the mean time I am just biding my time, trying to get things in order for the BIG DAY... hanks for all the support.

You don't need to open a checking or a savings account. SSDI now has a debit card that they can transfer you monthly payments onto. its called www.DirectExpress.com you should check it out and apply for it at the same time as your disability. Then you can access it from online and there is no paper trail if you choose paperless information and it should be pretty easy to hide it from him.

How do I figure out how much I would get if approved for SSDI?
And would I get any medical or prescription help?

Also, I know I asked this before probably, but I have heard some people get approved right away.... How? I have read thru their list of sever conditions and think I qualify, but do you think I'm still in for a long battle?
Under section 100: Musculoskeletal System - Adult
Category of impairment:

4. Other miscellaneous conditions that may cause weakness of the lower extremities, sensory changes, areflexia, trophic ulceration, bladder or bowel incontinence, and that should be evaluated under 1.04 include, but are not limited to, osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease, facet arthritis, and vertebral fracture. Disorders such as spinal dysrhaphism (e.g., spina bifida), diastematomyelia, and tethered cord syndrome may also cause such abnormalities. In these cases, there may be gait difficulty and deformity of the lower extremities based on neurological abnormalities, and the neurological effects are to be evaluated under the criteria in 11.00ff.

Also, about 4 days ago I started getting the most excruciating pain in my lower hip area. Deep inside. Right side. Radiates down my leg. Sometimes starts to feel numb. Hurts so bad can badly move, let alone walk.... Even my current meds don't even help in the slightest bit.

So any advice regarding getting approved would be greatly appreciated.

social security should send you a form each year that details what age you can retire at etc. It also has a space the says if you become disabled noe you will receive x amt of dollars. If you did not get form, you may have to call SS to send you one.

If you have enough quarters of work credit, you get social security and Medicare. If you do not have enuf work credits to qualify, you will receive ssi (smaller amt) and medicaid. My medicare was immediate cause I waited 2 years for it...but yr health probs seem much more severe...I wish you luck on getting out and starting your new life
