fentanyl 50 patches

I just got prescribed the 50mcg fentanyl patches. And I have some concerns, if anyone is/was on them can u please help me.
about how long does it take for the patch to start working?
how do u know its working?(might seem like a dumb question)
and im sort of scared of it dealing with the timing issues...
did anyone get adequate pain relief?

I'm on the 25mcg patches...honestly, they start working in about an hour. For me it takes the edge off, and in the beginning I think it took ALL the pain away. I have BT pain meds, but I only use them as I need them (ie, like when I'm flaring)...nope questions are not dumb, just honest questions when starting out an new medication. Good luck

Thanks becoming undone. Honestly I put my patch on at 1:30 2/7/12 and I have been waiting for it to kick in at anytime! So im guessing its not working for me... :-( then a couple hours ago I had some chest pains. Not too sure if it came from the patch or not.

I was started on 25mcg too in the beginning. I felt a little relief in a couple of hours. I think I would call my dr's office and tallk to the nurse so she can tell the dr what is going on asap. When I went to 50mcg of course the pain control got even better and I stayed on them for a while.

Please let us know what the drs office has to say.

I called and she's not in there today. So I made an appointment to see her tomorrow
