I had a busy day.
It began with a dentist appointment (no cavities, gums too looked good -- yay).
I then went to the supermarket for some routine grocery shopping. My wife was in the mood for a pot roast and I decided to treat myself to some donuts to celebrate my good dental check-up.
I got home, put everything away, then got to some writing. A few hours later, I started the roast and through the afternoon, peeled, chopped, spiced, stirred, etc.. Painful.
Then it was dinner time, again painful -- bending forward to eat is a daily trial.
It is also raining today and so by the time I finished the very tasty entree, I was in terrible pain and wanted to go upstairs to lie down. But donuts awaited!
So, I
opened the box of chocolate coated yeast donuts (my favorite).
However, I couldn't yet take one out. I needed a breather, to let the pain abate. I'm sure all of you are familiar with that moment: the pain spikes up and you just have to breathe through it for a bit.
When I was ready, I chomped down into the yummy donut and was overwhelmed by how delicious it was -- rarely are supermarket donuts that good! And so fresh, it was like they were just made!
The experience completely took me over and in those first powerful moments as the soft dough and chocolate mixed around in my mouth, I felt no pain!
It was an oxycodonut!
Unfortunately, the analgesia did not last. Tolerance built swiftly as each subsequent bite, despite still being delicious, was able to mask the pain less and less. But still, for however brief a time, the donut took away the pain.

I love it!! This is my idea of true pain relief. It may not last long, but it sure does feel good for a minute or two!
Great post!

OMG I so needed that, thank you. I am sorry about
your painful moments but that was so funny. Think I might have to make a Krispie Kreme run later LOL
Thank you again :)

It is fantastic to pain free for just a minute. I'm glad you were able to enjoy your doughnut. The pot roast sounds good too. Thanks for your little story.
love and hugs
