Hello,

I am a new member in need of assistance.  I am a 46 year old female.  I have been experiencing unexplained pain.  I have had headaches.  My pain started in my left hip a few months ago.  It was sharp painful pains in my left hip that affected how I would walk.  At first I thought it came from the treadmill.  It lasted for at least a month.  Next I experienced pain in my left fingers.  Joint pain so bad that I had to remove my wedding ring.  I have done absolutely nothing.  I had trouble lifting things because of my fingers.  Then the pain hit my feet in the heal area.  Now my fingers still hurt but not as bad.  I feel fatique early in the morning.  My feet feel as if I have walked in a walk-a-thon as soon as I wake up.  I will get up from sitting down and instant pain starts in the heels of my feet.  Now even with the pain in my fingers, and feet now I am experiencing pain in my lower back in the spine area.  Pain so severe that it woke me up out of my sleep.  At work the pain came in my lower back and also felt like a numbness in that area.  It intensified when ever I moved my legs.  I could barely walk.  My primary doctor does not seem to be doing enough to me.  He gave me exercises and flexerall at the first visit concerning all of this.  After experiencing what I did at work and was sent to the doctors by the nurse at my job, my mother asked, "Why haven't you done any blood work?" "How about a MRI?"  So he did blood work this Thursday past and sent me for an xray on my lower back now.  I can't take flexerall while at work because it makes me sleepy.  He did refer me to a podiatrist because I asked him to.  The podiatrist sent me for xrays and told be to make an appointment to come back with the xrays.  Now the podiatrist office is booked for the next three weeks while I continue to deal with foot pain.  Podiatrist said it may be plantar fascitis or heal spurs.  I am frustrated and scared.  What is going on with my body?  Is there anyone experiencing the same thing?  What are you being told?  I am changing my primary at this point.

Quite honestly the odds are good that no matter who your family doctor is that he would have first done what your current doctor did and chalk it up to muscle strain and age. The reason is that the majority of people who present with the symptoms you have, at least at first, have that exact issue.

While all muscle relaxers can cause drowsiness from what several doctors have told me Soma is less likely to be as sedating as Flexeril. I often get leg cramps due to other atypical issues and take Flexeril on an as needed basis. Most of my doctors wanted me on Soma because they said I was less likely to be sedated from it but my "insurance" (Il Medicaid) would not cover it so my only option was Flexeril. Fortunately for me I never experienced any of the sedating effects.

Hi Peacebestill and welcome to the chronic pain forum. I am sorry to hear you are having such a time with your health issues and not getting many answers as to what the dr thinks is going on. I have learned when we walk in with more than one issue going on the dr will say lets tackle one thing at a time. Generally starting with which one is bothering the person the most. I really do not know what to think is going on with, it could be many things, lets hope its something the drs can take care of quickly. I hope you are able to find a new GP that can give you some answers.

Hello peacebestill,   my pain was very similar to yours it started in my hip. my rheumatolagist called it snapping band syndrom i could barely walk on that leg for a month and it changed my gait.  then my wrists, the other hip, and my feet which have spurs but it was so painful in my ankles for about an hour every morning. and always without energy. My DR. recognised the signs and did a simple blood test called RF factor test and diagnosed me with rheumatoid arthritis. you might check to see if he did this test.

Thank you for welcoming me and for all the advice.  I went back to the doctor's office for the results of my test.  He told me that I have spinal arthritis.  So the spinal arthritis is causing bone spurs in my feet, pain in my hip, hand and lower back.  So I have medicine for the pain, swelling, and inflammation.  My hand does feel better.  I am able to put my wedding ring back on my finger. My feet still hurt.  I hope I can help someone with my situation.

Hi I have been having chronic pain in my neck below the ball in the neck, knees, lower back, hips and now shoulder and trigger fingers with nodules.  I am a 57 old year woman.   smhair   

I have gone to a ortho dr for 15 yrs getting injections and vicoprofen and he got sick and closed practice,  After a month I went to a new ortho and he said I needed to move more, no meds at all, did exrays of neck and shoulder and see him in a month.  He was rude and said l thing at a time.  he gave me 6 trigger shots in neck which did not last a whole week.  I am back to bad pain, he said move more and I walk on my feet all day moving all parts.  I found him rude and uncaring.  I barely get out of bed each day.  I have a few pain pills left but take motrin hour before I get out of bed to try to walk.  I don't understand how they can just cut you off of pills I have been on for 15 years. 

I got a new ortho and see him on Wed.  Hope he is better.  In the meantime, what do I do with all this chronic pain, stayed in bed all day cause it hurt so bad.  Also need surgery in my trigger finger and have no time off of a new job.

I have never had trigger finger in my life and I had one and injection and it is better, the same week I got one with nodules and a week later other hand with nodules. why are they coming all of a sudden.

Thanks for your post, it has helped me since I'm very similar in that I am also 46 year old woman that has been getting same type of symptoms but in my toes, right hand and lower back. I tested positive for RF test and just waiting to see the specialist next month. Some days are good, some can be very painful.
