throat pain

Jodyman, you've probably had tests to rule out nerve damage/involvement that might cause these symptoms???? Gosh what about trigger points (not the same as tender points) like in CMP???? I hope you and your docs figure it out! I don't know your history but possible thyroid issue ....any swelling in front part of neck?

I've had the same surgery 3 times....

During the surgery, they only move aside the neck muscles, trachea, and esophagus to access the front of the cervical spine.

There can be a bit of interior scar tissue if they are not as gentle in moving this out of the way...

As well as you had a breathing tube down your throat during surgery.....This is actually one of the main reasons that people have sore throats afterwards....And again...it could have rubbed up against the sides and caused some inflammation of the nerves/muscle...

If you are coughing hard...this alone can cause great strain on the throat...

They should have done an immediate x-ray at the end of surgery so the surgeon knows that the hardware and bone are all situated properly....(I have a card sized copy of this as I keep it to go through security at airports and buildings even though the titanium usually doesn't have the scanners go off....

Have you gone back to the surgeon who did the operation to talk to them about this? I would ask to at least get an x-ray to see if everything is in place....
