everyday pain just below the shoulder blade

I am 39 year old male working infront of computer(8 hours/ day).
I’ve been suffering from shoulder blade pain for 6 years already and I can’t certainly pinpoint the root cause of the pain.
I joined badminton club, did yoga, went to cheropactor, physiotherapy and all. but not successful.
if i take physiotherapy( they rub their elbow on pain area)one or two days , i feel ok. and if i return to work, it starts aching in the evening.
some doctors say, it is muscular pain, some say myofascial pain syndrome, trigger points and some dont know what exactly.
I underwent some medications and a few therapies. But just after a few days, the shoulder blade pain comes back.

can you Plase help me to come out of this pain.

Hello and welcome to the chronic pain forum. Sorry to read you are having so many difficulties without much relief. My one and only thought here is just what you stated in your first sentence, you sit at a computer 8 hours a day. This is very hard on the body being at a computer for that long, every day. You need to really take a good look at the your work station and see what sort of improvements you can make to help get some of the tension off of your body. You can start with a good keyboard and having the keyboard placed at a good height and angle is a must, also a good chair for support. Your posture is probably not the best from sitting like that all day. You should get up and move around during the work day and do some stretches to help keep things loose. I am willing to bet if you could get your work station set up in an ergo friendly way you will see a lot of your problems go away over time.

Hello and welcome to a place no one wants to be, but are very glad its here for us.

This may sound strange, but my daughter just had her gallbladder removed, one of the symptoms she had was should blade pain.  After talking to the doctor, (I of course was with her, even though shes 26), he explained to her that pain in or around her shoulder blade was caused by her gallbladder problems, she had 11 stones in her gallbladder, so they removed her gallbladder, and she is doing great.

Its just a thought, although 6 years is  a long time, and you might have had more symptoms that just the shoulder blade pain, I know she did.

I spend 10-14hrs per day in front of the computer and due to my scoliosis, have had to adapt my workspace considerably: I use a "human touch perfect chair", two monitors on ergotron arms, a wireless keyboard and trackball.

You may not be able to adapt your workspace so fully, but if you can, It should be considered. If not, then consider what else you can do. If you slouch and/or roll your shoulders forward, then perhaps a clavicle brace or a "kneeling chair"? Or, if the pain might be coming from mouse movements, then perhaps get a trackball (I use a logitech trackman with the ball under the thumb -- and love it).

The pain might simply be from repetitive strain, posture, etc.. But if you haven't had one yet, get an x-ray of your spine as it might identify a curvature, disk degeneration that is causing a pinched nerve, or some other underlying pathology.

I changed my chair. i bought long back chair. i will buy one track mouse also.but still pain exist. sometimes i get pain on my front ribs. its very painful to touch. usually it comes just below my chest or side of the chest(below underarm). and it disappears after 7 days.

is there any specific exercise for this ?
or any massage technic?

i went to one massage therapist , he used his elbow to rub (deeply)pain knot area and it temporarily went, but after a week situation is same.

i use tennis ball to rub that area at home, it gives some relief.

You may have a hot gall bladder. My first thought as you described your pain. Wouldn't hurt for you to have it tested.

Something else to consider is a keyboard tray, especially if you either hunch your shoulders or bend forward while typing. I recently bought a kensington keyboard tray that is solid and very adjustable for about $60 from amazon. Although I usually work in a reclined position, I'm finding it much less painful to type sitting upright lately (med change and maybe due to the keyboard tray).

It also occurred to me that you might be suffering from myofascial pain -- someone else recently posted about it. It is a pathology of the tissues surrounding muscles, and there are various massage therapies for it. Google "myofascial release". I cannot, though speak to their efficacy.

Regarding your rib pain, I actually get something like that. When I lay in bed and read or watch tv, when on my back and my neck angles so that my chin is near my chest, I get a sharp burning pain in my back after maybe 30 minutes, then it spreads around my side across to the front, right where my heart is. My doctor suggested that it is likely a nerve impingement in the upper thoracic (which is where my worst scoli curve is). The pain usually takes at least an hour to dissipate, even if I feel it just for a few minutes before moving.

You might want to try ice and/or stretching as well.
