Pill reminder

Can we post links to actual products on HW? My dr recommends a specific pill reminder for those with multiple medications, memory issues, etc... It has features like calling a cell phone or spouse if you forget to take a med. Wasnt sure the policy here.

I use an iPhone AP called RX that reminds me of what med, dosage, and what time to take my med's. So far I have been pleased with it, but have been known to sleep through the alarm in the early evening naps.

Their products don't incorporate the anti-tamper features of the $1000 unit from healthonemed, but if you just need something to tell you when to take your pill, forgettingthepill (and amazon) have quite a few good options at reasonable prices.

Item 218 looks like it can handle a very complex pill regimen. Personally, I like item 383 (which I own) for pills one has to take every X hours. It has a countdown timer, so you can simply set it to 6hrs, 8hrs, or whatever, and just restart the timer whenever you remove a pill.

Thanks for the link, very interesting product, but too pricey for this guy. I don't take enough different meds to justify this, though it would help me in the memory department. I only take a total of 3 different types of pills per day, plus the 48 hour swap fentanyl patch. For now, I will continue to use the $1 plastic bill boxes, I divide up my breakthrough med (Loratab) into my Noon, 4 pm, and 8 pm doses into the box, and have an empty opening where I put my single Tranzene and Ambien for my night pass.

Just....you need to read up on your state laws about carrying narcotics. Many states it is illegal to not have them in the actual prescription bottle and this could cause huge trouble if you got pulled over for something minor and they found this.

So, many people will put them in the pill 7 day pill containers at home and keep them in a safe then use the prescription bottles to carry a few pills in when out and about. (With small children...just do not tell them about your medication or have them know where the safe is located.)

Some states actually require that you have the full prescription if you are carrying it in the bottle as well.

So just making sure that everyone reads over the laws for their state and do things accordingly to be safe:)

Ahh...thanks for sharing more info...There is that other thread right now about the cost of meds...I don't have any insurance myself and have to pay out of pocket for everything. So I can empathize!

Here is a link for some really good and not too too pricey med dispencers/organizers. I use two different ones, I use the Medglider with the four alarms, it is the one first shown, and I also use the Turtle for my morning meds at six AM because I take the most meds then and I keep it by my bed side.  Anyway I have used both of these for many many years and they are reliable  and easy to use. The medglider is especially handy because I can put the days supply right in my pocket and the alarm goes off reminding me when it is time to take my meds.  I got both of mine at Wal-Mart I believe but that was many many many years ago and to my knowledge they nolonger even sell them. In fact the only place I have been able to find them now, is at this place on line.
